Can graphene change the world? 🤔 Researchers working with #graphene and other #2Dmaterials seem to have a clear answer: ✅ Yes! 🔬 20 years ago, graphene was first isolated by Professor Sir Andre Geim and Professor Sir Konstantin Novoselov from the University of Manchester. After an intense first year of GRAPHERGIA, we are ready to start our research and innovation activities of year 2! 🚀 🍝 This week, the #GRAPHERGIAproject partners gathered in the heart of the Italian Tuscany, in Prato, in a meeting hosted by our textile and eco-design partner Next Technology Tecnotessile. ⚡ The central objective of our project is to empower the future of #energy harvesting and storage by applying #graphene in two areas of usage: smart textiles and Li-ion batteries. 🥐 Our next Consortium Meeting will be in Paris, but in the meantime, we will keep spreading the #GRAPHERGIA research and impact all over Europe, and beyond. The #GRAPHERGIA partners keep explaining the impact of our project all over Europe, this time in France! 🇫🇷 Last month, Bilge Saruhan, Senior Scientist at German Aerospace Center (DLR), offered an oral presentation at the 50th edition of the International Conference on Micro-and Nano Engineering #MNE2024 titled “Fabrication of Laser-induced Micro-Supercapacitors for structurally-integrated power storage systems”. 🚀 Her talked raised interest in our efforts to create micro-#supercapacitors (MSCs) onto the textiles and embed them in the #aerospace structures within the #GRAPHERGIAproject. We are commemorating the 20th anniversary of the discovery of graphene and reflecting on the advancements made in 2D material innovations since then. Projects like GRAPHERGIA and ARMS, part of the Graphene Flagship initiative, are dedicated to creating solutions that showcase the benefits of 2D materials in energy storage and portable energy sources. These technological advancements offer improved performance in terms of strength, safety, energy capacity, and power output. Yesterday was a fun and intense day for #GRAPHERGIA at the #GrapheneWeek2024! 🙌🙌 ⚡ The day started with our workshop co-hosted with Project ARMS “Integrating Graphene Innovations: From Smart Textiles to High-Performance Energy Storage”. It was co-organised by Spyros Yannopoulos, Magda Spella and Hamed Pourkheirollah, and Benedetto Bozzini, Jinhua Sun, Despoina Batsouli and Philippe Basset participated as speakers. 🇪🇺 We also loved being at the Graphene Flagship Hall during the breaks, shared with the rest of our sibling projects to network and discuss potential collaborations and ways of supporting each other's research and innovation activities: GATEPOST, Next-2Digits, 2DNeuralVision, Project ARMS, MUNASET, 2D-BioPAD, GIANCE project, 2D-PRINTABLE, 2D-ENGINE, 2D-SPINTECH, and SAFARI Project. 🍷 The evening concluded with the Posters Session B, in which Elena Merli from Next Technology Tecnotessile presented a poster about the #GRAPHERGIAproject while enjoying some drinks.
