PVcase

I’m super excited to share that I’ve joined PVcase, a pioneer and the global leader in solar project design software. I’m having a bit of a sliding doors moment and reflecting on how I got to such a great place in my career… In some ways, I feel like I’ve gone full circle. When I finished grad school I was lucky enough to receive two very different job offers. The first was at the California Air Resources Board where I’d be working to promote California clean air technologies (they even had a goal of requiring a significant percentage of cars on California roads to be electric - which seemed fantastical at the time). My grad program was heavily focused on public service job placements and quite a few of my classmates ended up in Washington DC. Sacramento isn’t exactly DC, but this career path seemed like the ‘thing’ to do. The second offer was in the export department of a local San Diego manufacturing company. It was a very entry level position and offered me a very different path. I loved the idea of working to improve California’s air quality but was ultimately more attracted to learning more about international business. We always have a choice to pivot in our careers at any point, but as it normally goes, one thing led to another and my career ended up in the commercial world, which I really love. Over the years, I have had a chance to dabble helping the environment in my commercial roles. One of the most successful PR campaigns brainstormed by my friends at Brands2Life was to plant a tree for every demo request we got at WebEx. I remember my US colleagues questioning why planting a tree to offset carbon emissions would work as part of a marketing campaign. In Europe we really leaned into the idea that doing a virtual meeting would reduce your carbon footprint. It was a great campaign to drive awareness and evangelize web conferencing at a time when it seemed nearly inconceivable to replace face-to-face meetings, at scale (vs a clunky video conference). On a personal note, I recently spent two years living in Southern Spain where windmills and solar farms are a very common sight. You are constantly reminded of the opportunity to harness nature for clean energy. Given this dabbling over the years and my personal experience, I’m thrilled to be able to combine my commercial interests with promoting technology that fights climate change at PVcase! I’m looking forward to applying all my years of experience and skills from B2B tech into the renewable energy market. Looking forward to being a part of the solution to help our planet’s future!
