Diversifying #inequalities – a rising challenge within our future. 🌐 As we tackle gender discrimination, we also address other forms of #discrimination: such as age and sexual orientation, just to name a few. People who experience discrimination for other reasons, are likely to face gender discrimination even more. By addressing the #intersectionality of #gender with other grounds, we can develop policies that tackle all the inequalities which impact people in vulnerable situations. Despite global progress, the gender pay gap persists, with women in low-income countries being particularly affected. In high-income nations, women earn 73 cents for every dollar earned by men. Our Agency has a fresh new look! It lands off the back of The European Institute for Gender Equality's 14th birthday, which we celebrated a few weeks ago. It also comes at the right moment with a newly elected European Parliament and soon, a new European Commission. If there were ever a time to protect the gains and push for stronger commitment for gender equality, it’s now. With close to a decade and a half of feats as the EU’s only Agency providing independent research and sharing best practices to promote gender equality and eliminate discrimination based on gender, it was naturally an occasion for celebration. But also, as with all milestone moments, it gave pause for reflection. Our work – from data collection to awareness raising campaigns– is laced with intersectionality, accessibility and inclusivity. We have taken much pride in this nexus. But showing is just as important as telling. We have integrated feedback from our second external evaluation report, to secure a throughline between what we do and how we present our work to our key stakeholders and broader communities. We’d like to think of our new corporate visual identity as equality empowered by design. A symbolic representation of the EU’s women and men in all their diversity. In our revamped look, we are catering both our online and offline products to everyone – including those with visual impairments: better fonts, clearer design and a more user-friendly presentation of our texts and visuals.
