With our new challenges coming next week, it’s the perfect time to look back at what some of our innovators have achieved since joining the DIANA programme in January. Last month, Astrolight visited Danish frigate ‘Peter Willemoes’ to showcase their unjammable, undetectable and high-bandwidth communication technology – an important milestone in their mission to revolutionise communication in the maritime domain. Congratulations to the Astrolight team and a big thank you to Deep Tech Lab - Quantum for all their work to make it happen. #NATODIANA #WeareNATO

“In the current climate, it’s very important to have something that is hard to jam.” These were the introductory words by our co-founder and CTO, Dalius Petrulionis, last week at Eurosatory. He represented Astrolight and had a chance to showcase our POLARIS and ATLAS products, an alternative to traditional RF communication. We won’t give too many spoilers this time, because the interview is out for you to view, but stay alert: • The “laser is the future”, but the future is now - it’s already deployable. • You can have more data transmitted, for cheaper. • It can overcome many traditional RF communication problems, such as lack of security. Check the interview below right away!

It is with great pleasure to announce our partnership with the leading commercial space company from South Korea CONTEC on FSO Communication Capabilities! 🌝 On June 13th at the International Space Summit 2024, CONTEC CEO Dr. Sunghee Lee and Astrolight CEO Laurynas Mačiulis signed an MOU with an intent to work together for Free Space Optics (FSO) Communication Capabilities. 🧐 This includes collaborative activities in relation to the research and development of FSO technologies through CONTEC's Optical ground stations, support and use of Astrolight laser communication terminals, and support and use of CONTEC ground station network. 🛰 Founded in 2019, Astrolight is on a mission to bring innovation to the satellite optical connectivity market. Astrolight is led by an ex-founder and CTO of Kongsberg Nanoavionics, Laurynas Mačiulis, together with co-founders possessing extensive experience in the photonics and space markets. Astrolight laser communication terminal ATLAS stands out from competitors due to its small size and low power consumption, leveraging Astrolight’s proprietary beam steering and modular optical amplifier system design. 📡 CONTEC is a global leading space company based in South Korea providing a full-vertical chain solution including ground station engineering solutions, ground station-as-a-service (GSaaS), satellite imagery processing, analytics and application solutions. CONTEC also has two subsidiaries, CONTEC Space Optics where they design and manufacture high resolution electro-optical cameras and CONTEC Earth Service, a provider of environmental monitoring solutions. #ISS2024 #CONTEC #ASTROLIGHT #Freespaceoptics #communication #opticalcommunication #lasercommunication #newspace #MOU

Did you know that the Earth Observation 🛰️ sector is set to triple its revenue to $9 billion annually by 2035? It’s just one of the highlights that were recently revealed by the World Economic Forum Space Insights Report. After seeing it, we couldn't help but keep thinking: who is going to be responsible for this? It’s either current industry giants or growing start-ups. We’re glad that our thoughts have turned into words, now published at SpaceWatch.Global! Check out the insights by David Gauthier, Chief Strategy Officer for the space consulting company GXO, Inc., and Laurynas Mačiulis, CEO of Astrolight. Link is available in the comments below. 👇 And if you want a quick overview, there are a few key messages: - At Astrolight, we’re aiming to improve the Earth Observation sector by providing laser communication links from Space to Earth, increasing data throughput. - The growth of this industry is impossible without innovations that are constantly provided by start-ups. - We have to ensure that the space industry doesn’t turn into a monopoly, but an environment where key players rather collaborate with the new ones, ensuring the latest tech and trends are in use. Would you add anything to the list? Let us know what you think. #spacex #earthobservation #spaceindustry #lasercommunication #lasercomms
