Any and all designers should have that extra sence of grasping technology and ideas from anything and everything seen or used in their every day life. And more a person is open to exploring markets and other industries in keeping their knowledge uptodate, would suffice to a designer worth employing. ie. aerodynamics in aerospace and fluid dynamics in ship building can be used in designing automobiles for the knowledge and experience in dynamics of air and fluid will give more indepth understanding to surface a vehicle more efficiently

Designing is a blend of creativity and processing of creativity in a structured way. From the requirement gathering, all the way to your fifith batch of the production should be mapped out in a structured manner. If the candidates have decipline in following a process and/or creatively and practically knowledgeable in developing such processes, employers such as myself would consider such individuals as then The organization will have a higher chance of progressing the designs to market with less design fails from the market

Design is only a part of engineering. Hence skills in identifying the available technology and designing products around the facilities and technology available is a skill that every engineer or designer should poses. Furthermore skills such as production, process and quality are some other skills required by employers such as myself. Designers are many, but getting the design manufactured using tge available tools and mechinery is few. Hence future is bright onky for the multi skilled few

One eliment I look for is cross sector and cross product knowledge. This significantly improves the creative and design skills. Hence Its allways prefered to show all your skills, and at interview or application stage, show how the broad range of products can help the organization develop better designs.

Adjusting your workstation is very important, but at the same time, getting used to the setup is equally important. A tip would ve to start using the setup for a brief period initially and keep increasing the time spent at the workstation through a span pf a week would allow the human body to get used to the setup and adjust the posture without muscle pain

It is important to use diffrent kinds of keyboards and mouses till you find your perfet match, as what works for one uset may not work for another. Plus ergonomics differ from person to person based on their own bone structure and muscle development
