Herbert Allen Giles (natus 8 Decembris 1845 – mortuus 13 Februarii 1935) fuit legatus Britannorum iuxta Imperium Sinense, Sinologus et professor linguae Sinicae in universitate Cantabrigiensi. Educatus est apud scholam Carthusianam. Systema transcriptionis litterarum Sinensium ad scripturam Latinam, a Thoma Wade inventum, refecit. Systema ita emendatum Wade–Giles appellatur. Anglice reddidit opera Confucii, Laocii et Zhuangzi. Anno 1892 primus ille dictionarium late divulgatum Sino-Anglicum confecit.
