Delmore Schwartz fuit poeta et scriptor fabularum brevium Americanus.
Universitates Columbiae et Visconsiniae frequentavit, antequam diploma in Universitate Novi Eboraci anno 1935 accepit. Deinde discipulus Alfredi North Whitehead in Universitate Harvardiana philosophiae studebat, sed studiis non finitis Novum Eboracum rediit.[1] Mox, anno 1937, diegema edidit "In Dreams Begin Responsibilities" inscriptum,[2] quo matrimonium calamitosum parentium suorum descripsit.[3] Proximo anno quinque et viginti annos natus librum eiusdem nominis edidit, in quo hanc fabulam cum aliis fabulis et poematibus protulit. Quem librum populo gratissimum T. S. Eliot, Gulielmus Carolus Williams, Ezra Pound, et alii auctores illustres laudaverunt, et Schwartz inter ingeniosissimos scriptores et bonae spei iuvenes suae aetatis numerabatur.[4] Allen Tate declarasse dicitur, stilum poeticum Schwartzianum esse "primam renovationem veram quam post Eliot et Pound habuimus."[5]
Schwartz scripturam creativam in sex universitatibus docuit, inter quas erant Universitas Syracusana, Universitas Princetoniensis, et Collegium Kenyonense. Cum scriptor magni ingenii, tum acerrimus et festivissimus in colloquio habebatur Schwartz, et in amicis oblectandis in White Horse Tavern, caupona Neo-Eboracensi, multum tempus terere solebat .
Infarctu cordis periit anno aetatis quinguagesimo secundo.
