De usu

{{Carmen}} is a template designed to format poetry simply and reliably. It differs from {{Versus}} in two significant ways: it does not add spacing around the poem for that sets it apart as “block quote”, and it automatically provides hanging indentation when lines are so long that they wrap. This is an advantage in a few specific instances, such as when a poem is part of a table or when a few lines are much longer than the rest. The hanging indent is intentionally large so that they are not confused with lines that are intentionally indented as part of the poem's form.

The Dream

Dear love, for nothing less than thee

By default the template adds some margins to the poem (the same margins used by {{Versus numerati}}). Use the |margo= parameter to set different values – e.g. |margo=0 or |margo=1em auto (same syntax of the CSS margin property).
