The '2024 Korea Maritime Week' will take place from September 9 to 12 under the main theme of ‘International Maritime Sector in the Transitional Era : Challenges and Opportunities’. SV Juren Ae – a breakthrough in sustainable maritime transport! The environmentally friendly cargo sailing ship, SV Juren Ae, has successfully completed its maiden voyage from South Korea to the Marshall Islands, where it was delivered to the Marshall Islands Shipping Corporation (MISC). This remarkable vessel, built in South Korea and classified by Korean Register (KR), represents a triumph of international cooperation and cutting-edge German technology.   Key Features of SV Juren Ae: Innovative Design: Equipped with the "Indosail-Sailing Rig," a partially-automated sail system designed by SDC Ship Design & Consult and inspired by traditional Indonesian sail technology. Complemented by photovoltaic (PV) units and a hybrid drive system, the ship is projected to reduce CO2 emissions by approximately 80% compared to similar-sized vessels. The European Commission adopted the #FuelEU #Maritime regulation to promote the use of renewable and low-carbon fuels in European maritime transport. From January 1, 2025, ships over 5,000 GT calling at ports in EU/EEA must comply with the FuelEU Maritime regulation, with the GHG intensity limits of ship fuels being gradually tightened until 2050.
