Our retired demo vehicles are reborn for college students!   We’ve donated 10 of our retired demo vehicles to Kyunggi University of Science and Technology (Kyunggi Tech) in South Korea. The donation includes combustion engine vehicle, EVs, and HEVs. Not only does this move make smart use of resources by recycling, but it provides aspiring mobility engineers with unique opportunities for learning. Through the donation students will gain hands-on experience disassembling, getting to learn in depth about internal combustion engines, high-voltage batteries, and EV drive motors. With Purpose Built Vehicles (PBVs) at the forefront of future mobility, we’re leading the way for safety by pioneering the world’s first airbags designed specifically for PBVs.

 Due to the spacious and variable interiors of PBVs, safety requires a differentiated approach from that of a conventional vehicle.

 As opposed to the typical top-to-bottom deployment, the door-mounted curtain airbags deploy using wires, expanding from bottom to top within .03 seconds of a crash. The airbag is mounted on the door itself, which compensates for the structural limitations of PBVs with sliding doors.

 Additionally, our design considers the tendency of windshields to be further from the passenger in a PBV. With self-supporting airbags deployed without windshield contact, safety is secured regardless of the spacious interior.
 These airbags, meeting global safety standards, are our contribution to mobility that considers safety a paramount factor for future transportation.

Our movie theater-quality audio wowed the participants at the Audio Engineering Society 5th International Conference from June 26th to June 28th held in Uni3 by Geely, Gothenburg, Sweden. Audio Engineering Society (AES) brings engineers, artists, scientists, and students together in the spirit of research for audio technology. As a “gold” sponsor, we shone bright among more than 70 automotive audio and association participants. Our main attraction was the Dolby Laboratories Atmos sound system, uniquely applied to a vehicle with an execution admired by Dolby itself. A passion for preserving the environment is how we’re leading a thriving future mobility industry. With the release of the Sustainability Report 2024, we’ve shared our achievements, strategy, and vision around Environment, Social, and Governance (ESG). In this report, we detail the approximately 8,000 patents that have been filed in the last 3 years, with 3,000 of them related to electrification, autonomous driving, and connectivity. These patents reflect our deep investment in electrification R&D, with a staggering 1.6 trillion KRW just last year. As our electrification business continues to boom, we hope to provide a roadmap for a more sustainable future for generations to come through real action. Along with this, domestic and international developments such as a Battery Systems Assembly (BSA) factory in Spain and a new EV module factory in Ulsan, Korea are our latest displays of commitment to ESG management. Since 1998, we’ve been committed to excellent standards for driving and parking through our investment in ADAS. And now with Autonomous Driving Controller (ADC) in development, our commitment deepens into truly next-generation safety and convenience. #Newsletter #June_Edition The ADC is a powerful integration of 11 cameras, 12 USSs, 2 LiDARs, and 5 RADARs that incorporates driving, parking, and video recognition features. Set to be completed in the 2nd half of this year, the ADC will allow for a shorter development cycle, as well as more tailored solutions for customers. One striking feature of this next-generation ADAS is the Rear Safety Assistance System (RSAS), which helps detect and prevent dangers from drivers approaching from the rear-end of the vehicle. With level 4 autonomous vehicle testing already completed in South Korea earlier this year, development of ADAS is set to advance in protecting drivers more efficiently.
