Last week, we visited Elgeyo Marakwet County, Kenya 🇰🇪 to participate in the Global EverGreening Alliance #RestoreAfrica communications strategy workshop. We gathered valuable insights from lead farmers and key stakeholders in the program. Our commitment is to ensure community and stakeholder perspectives are fully integrated as we work to inspire, educate, activate, and celebrate local communities in the county. We thank the national and county government officials for their crucial support in implementing the program. Together, we believe in the power of #regreening! Self Help Africa is leading the implementation of the #RestoreAfrica Program in Elgeyo Marakwet, aiming to impact at least 67,914 families. World Vision Kenya is the lead implementing organisation for this program, which seeks to restore #ecosystems, enhance #livelihoods, improve #foodsecurity, and strengthen the resilience of smallholder farmers and pastoralists to #climatechange. From Livestock Farming to Crop Farming! 🌾 Pastoralist communities in Dadaab, Garissa County, which have historically relied on livestock rearing for a living, are now diversifying into crop growing thanks to World Vision Kenya’s intervention in partnership with IOM - UN Migration Kenya. A total of 662 households in Alikune, Gubakibir, and Dolal villages in Dadaab, who lost their livestock to drought, benefited from World Vision's Livelihood diversification programme through increased climate-smart agriculture and green job opportunities for climate change-affected populations. The training, designed to strengthen inclusive climate change resilience and adaptive interventions for people living in fragile eco-systems focused on: ✅ Dryland preparation and modern farming technologies. ✅ Planting various crops such as maize, sorghum, okra, kales, melons, onions, cowpeas, and beans, and ✅ Exploring group dynamics, cooperatives, financial management, leadership, internal control systems, and market access. #ClimateChangeActionNow #ClimateSmartAgriculture #EmpoweringCommunities

On Wednesday, the World Vision Kenya team, led by our Board Directors Rev. Dida Golicha and Dr. Heglon Kitawi, together with senior government officials from the Isiolo County Government, including Governor's representative Mr. Idris Boru, joined #children and their families to celebrate the closeout of the Garbatula Area Programme (AP). 😃🎉 This marks the culmination of 15 years of our impactful work in the region. Since 2009, with the support of World Vision Canada we have implemented life-changing projects in Garbatula and Kinna wards. These initiatives focused on critical areas such as #Health, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (#WASH), #Education, #Nutrition, Child Learning and Household Resilience, Child Protection & Participation (CPP), and the Community Engagement and Sponsorship Program (CESP). Using an integrated approach, we’ve helped build a more resilient and empowered community. The goal of the Garbatula Area Programme has been to create a healthy, peaceful, and well-educated community that actively contributes to the sustained well-being of its children - 35,890 in total (17,850 boys and 18,040 girls) - and their families by 2024. As we close this chapter, we are grateful for the tremendous impact achieved and look forward to ensuring the sustainability of these efforts. 😃🧡 #GarbaTullaClosure #SustainableDevelopment #CommunityTransformation #ChildrenFirst

🎉 Celebrating a New Chapter for Girls in Tiaty! 📚🎉   We are proud to officially commission The Akoret Girls’ High School in Tiaty Sub-county, Baringo County, through our #KenyaBigDream program! In a vibrant, joy-filled event, we were joined by our amazing donors from World Vision USA, led by Margo Day, alongside children, parents, and leaders from both the national and county governments.    This modern school, the first of its kind in Tiaty, is a safe haven for girls at risk of FGM and child marriage. With top-notch facilities - spacious classrooms, twin laboratories, dormitories, and more - 98 learners have already started their Form One journey in a space built for their success and safety.    Governor Cheboi praised the construction and equipping of the school, while our Director for Program Effectiveness, Fredrick Kasiku, reaffirmed World Vision’s commitment to giving all children the opportunity to enjoy the fullness of life through quality education.    #EndChildMarriage #StopFGM #EmpoweringGirls #QualityEducation
