Powering social enterprise in sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia through collaboration between business and government.

About us

TRANSFORM is a joint initiative between business and government working to address the world’s most pressing development challenges. Focused on sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia, we aim to improve the lives of low-income households by supporting social enterprises designed to address local challenges, support livelihoods and empower women. In addition to grant funding, TRANSFORM offers social enterprises world class business support including access to commercial networks, technology and expertise in behaviour change, marketing and sales, distribution, and improving social business models. TRANSFORM was launched by Unilever and the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (then Department for International Development) in 2015, with EY joining in 2019. It combines public sector resources with private sector capabilities to support innovative social enterprises towards scale. Alongside creating jobs and working towards the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, we aim to enable up to 100 million of the world’s poorest people to access products and services that improve their health, livelihoods, environment or well-being by 2025. TRANSFORM leverages the reach and expertise of its world-class partners to find sustainable solutions to the world’s greatest development challenges. Programme level organisations: Unilever, FCDO and EY. Project level organisations include Mastercard, Microsoft, Vodafone and many others.
