Prof. Paul Odula (President SSK) gave an overview of Kenyan laparoscopy access landscape whilst Dr Ben Njihia (Medical Director, Avenue Healthcare) took time to explain the details of the operation and introduced the other new gadgets in town. Improving equitable access to surgical care around the globe 🌍 Today a live Transabdominal Preperitoneal (TAPP) Mesh Hernioplasty was broadcast to the Future Surgery, from Avenue Healthcare in Nairobi, Kenya, to Excel London, using Proximie. Creating a sustainable impact on global health has been an integral part of Proximie’s DNA from the very beginning, so it was incredible to see the power of our pioneering partnerships being shared with a full room of attendees in London today. This workshop was just the beginning of the journey in popularizing laparoscopy in remote areas with Proximie on board. The effort was coordinated Surgical Society of Kenya, Leeds University, Proximie and Loresa. While NSSC was used for the cadaveric sessions, Avenue hospital parklands graciously agreed to host the two live streaming sessions from the operating theatres on day two and day three. Apart from Avenue hospital parklands, the other participating hospitals included PCEA Kikuyu hospital, Muranga County hospital, Makueni County hospital, Karen hospital and Tenwek mission hospital. We are grateful to Lariox Healthcare for providing support in the form of surgical consumables and catering. Kudos to the team👏👏👏
