When I observe individuals burning waste, several thoughts and questions come to mind, most of which highlight the unfortunate reality of the situation: 1.Do they know that burning waste, especially plastics, releases toxic chemicals and other harmful compounds that cause respiratory problems, skin irritation, and long-term health issues? 2. Do they know that burning waste contaminates air, water, and soil, which ultimately harms wildlife and the entire ecosystem, including humans? 3. Why are they burning waste?Is it due to lack of awareness and education about the dangers of burning waste, or is it simply pure ignorance? In this year's Miss Earth competition, the theme "Water is Life" emphasizes the critical importance of protecting our water resources. Proper waste management plays a crucial role in this effort. By promoting recycling, reusing, and repurposing waste, we can significantly reduce pollution and prevent harmful chemicals from contaminating our water sources. As a contestant, my goal is to leverage the platform and the crown to reach every person, regardless of their social status, to raise awareness and educate people on the importance of sustainable waste management. Together, we can protect our precious water resources, ensuring a healthier planet for future generations. 🌊 As the devastating floods sweep across Kenya, the stark reality emerges: this is not merely a drainage problem, but an extremely disturbing consequence of climate change. Lives are lost, both human and animal, while homes and livelihoods are swallowed by the floods. 😢 These heart-wrenching images serve as a poignant reminder of the URGENT need for ACTION. 🚨 Nations worldwide must heed the call to address this crisis head-on, recognizing their role in contributing to climate change and acting swiftly to mitigate its effects. 🌍 It’s imperative that polluters bear responsibility for the loss and damage inflicted, providing essential aid to affected communities and investing in long-term resilience measures. 💪 At home, Kenyan leaders must prioritize building robust infrastructure capable of withstanding such calamities.
