STRENGTHENING COLLABORATION IN HIV RESPONSES FOR ADVANCED HIV DISEASE This week, Division of National AIDS and STI Control Program, Ministry of Health -Kenya hosted the #THRIVEConsortium, led by #ClintonHealthAccessInitiative #CHAI in collaboration with #AfroCAB-Treatment Access Partners, to explore partnerships in #addressingAHD in Kenya. The THRIVE consortium, an affiliate of #Unitaid, focuses on reducing mortality among people living with HIV by improving #accesstoHIVprevention, #screening, and #treatment, emphasizing local leadership and community-driven solutions. Central to this effort is the STOP AHD package, guided by the #GlobalAHDToolkit. This package includes routine screening for opportunistic infections, the provision of prophylactic medications, rapid ART initiation, and strengthening community-based support systems. Dr. Rose Wafula acknowledged the need for embracing collaborations in #HIVServicedelivery for #universalhealthcoverage. ADVOCATING FOR INTEGRATED HEALTH CARE SERVICES AMONG ADOLESCENTS & YOUNG PEOPLE Division of National AIDS and STI Control Program, Ministry of Health -Kenya joined the Girl Up Organization, an affiliate of the #UnitedNationsFoundation, alongside UN Women for a Localized Summit. Dr. Hermes Gichane, NASCOP's AYP Program Lead participated in a panel discussion and gave a talk on the Ministry’s role in prevention of #GenderBasedViolence among adolescents and young women. The summit was held at the KICC on 26th and 27th July 2024, to discuss key issues in young people including Gender equality, leadership, Gender-based Violence, Innovation and Technology. The Ministry of Health through NASCOP remains committed to providing #integratedhealthcareservices including knowledge and advocacy skills to ensure efficacy in #implementinginterventions among young people.
