Check out this adorable pair of lovebirds 💚 Egyptian Geese honk at each as a way of communicating with their partners. As a life-long monogamous species, this loud duet is a way for couples to stay connected. They surely know how to keep the romance alive! 🦆❤️ This vocalization between mates is linked to breeding. Although Egyptian Geese may breed throughout the year, peak breeding times occurring during the wet season 🍃🌧️ #mountkenyawildlifeconservancy #MKWC #AnimalOrphanage #birdwatching

The Africa Conservation Forum #IUCNACF2024 underscored that sustainable solutions must incorporate voices from all sectors, including the private sector, the youth and local communities, and highlighted the necessity of innovative, Nature-based Solutions and increased investment in natural assets to support both ecosystems and economies. Humphrey Kariuki, one of Africa's leading entrepreneurs as well as an environmentalist, recently authored an insightful piece with a message that the continent must come together in diverse ways – from education to funding – to promote conservation. He attended the Forum as part of the delegation of #IUCNMember - Mount Kenya Wildlife Conservancy. #IUCNMembers like Mount Kenya Wildlife Conservancy are at the heart of the IUCN's Regional Conservation Forums, which includes the inaugural Africa Conservation Forum that took place in June, 2024 in Nairobi. Community is at the heart of our work, and their involvement drives our success. Businesses too can contribute to wildlife conservation by investing in programs that drive environmental stewardship. Our Patron, Humphrey Kariuki, shares his thoughts on the future of African conservation in a blog post published on the IUCN website. Read on 👉
Entrepreneur. Dad, husband, optimist. Conservationist. Youth enabler. Believer in Strong and Green Africa.
At the Africa Conservation Forum 2024 organised by the IUCN, one thing was clear: Africa stands at a pivotal moment for global conservation leadership. To align with the Sustainable Agenda 2063, we must integrate conservation with development, ensuring that natural heritage and economic progress go hand in hand. Key to this is enhancing collaboration among governments, businesses, and conservation groups, with Africa leading the conversation on biodiversity policies and funding. In my recent publication on the IUCN platform, I advocate for a more assertive and innovative approach to Africa’s conservation efforts. The article underscores the need for Africa to redefine its conservation strategies and enhance its role in global conservation governance. This publication follows discussions from the inaugural #ACF in Nairobi and a notable milestone for Mount Kenya Wildlife Conservancy, which became a member of IUCN in April. I look forward to deepening our collaboration with global conservationists and advancing our collective efforts. I invite your thoughts and insights on this pivotal moment for African conservation.
