Post Partum Haemorrhage, Heat Stable Cabetocin One of the leading causes of maternal mortality (death of mothers around pregnancy) is Post Partum Haemorrhage. This is heavy bleeding following delivery. One of the ways of preventing bleeding following delivery is giving medicine called oxytocin. This medicine is very sensitive to temperature changes & is easily made impotent by heat. PPH can thus result from use of syntocinon becoming ineffective as a result of a heat. Heat in short can make syntocinon not work. Over the last few months a team of gynaecologists have championed for its alternative, heat stable Cabetocin, to be made available at @Kemsa_Kenya & this has been done. Heat stable Cabetocin was famously called ‘KAUSHA’ by Governor Mutula Kilonzo Junior at the 2024 The Kenya Obstetrical and Gynaecological Society Congress where he was a guest speaker. This is because when Makueni started procuring heat stable Cabetocin the first people to notice its effect were the cleaners in labor ward who noticed a dramatic reduction in the amount of blood they had to clean after deliveries. They thus baptised Heat Stable Cabetocin KAUSHA, which means dry in Swahili. The floors were dry. Heat stable Cabetocin has now landed in Murang’a County, Kigumo SubCounty Hospital. We are thus able to purchase this at the access prices. We are happy. I’m happy to note that the champion of Heat Stable Cabetocin Dr. Ruth Wamae has marked Kigumo ‘SAFE’ following the message that we now have heat stable Cabetocin in stock. Mothers are safer! We given Dr Ruth Wamae a HSC (Heat Stable Cabetocin) 😄😄
