SPQA Project Gears Up for Success! The Support of Agricultural Production and Quality Assurance (SPQA) project held a productive Steering Committee Meeting in Hargeisa! Political and implementing partners came together to review the project's progress and impact. Under the leadership of MoPND's Director General and co-chaired by MoWRD's Director General, the meeting at the Ambassador Hotel was a great chance for collaboration. Spotlight on Somalia: GIZ's Transformative Impact in Kismayo, Jubaland Our Somalia Portfolio Director, Christian Kuehnl, concluded a highly productive visit to Kismayo this week, underscoring the significant strides being made through our cooperation programmes, implemented by GIZ Somalia and funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). Here's a closer look at the value and impact of his trip: 🌍 Strategic Planning with the GIZ Kismayo Team: The visit kicked off with a crucial staff meeting to assess ongoing projects and strategize future initiatives. This collaboration aims to enhance our programme's efficiency and effectiveness, ensuring maximum benefit for the Kismayo community. 🌍 Strengthening Partnerships: Productive discussions were held with key partners, including the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation and the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs. These partnerships are pivotal for the success of our projects, particularly the Strengthening the Social Economic Participation of Women (SEPOW) Project, which focuses on empowering women economically and socially. 🌍 Witnessing Tangible Impact: Christian's visit to the Climate-Resilient Food Security Projects in Gobweyn and Luglow highlighted the tangible benefits of our initiatives. Engaging directly with community members and beneficiaries, he saw firsthand the positive changes brought about by our efforts in enhancing food security and building climate resilience. The GIZ Somalia-SPQA project, along with partner ministries from Agriculture, Planning & Development, and Water Resource Development, recently wrapped up a successful 3-day monitoring mission! This visit was all about seeing progress firsthand and collaborating with local offices in Odwayne, Burao, and the Burao Technical Institute. Farmers even got to share their challenges and ideas for the project's future success! From visiting MoAD offices to meeting Burao farmer groups, this mission was a chance for everyone involved to get on the same page. As part of the project’s effort to capacitate local government and non-governmental organisations in helping offer #employment and counseling services to the #youth and #women in Baidoa district, SHIR’s implementing partner, Global Initiative for Resilience and Development (GIRD), offered 7-days long certified training on data analysis to 20 participants, 13 male and 7 female, drawn from different government departments and non-governmental organisations that operate in Baidoa. #SHIRBoostsGovCapacity #LocalGovCapacityBoost #SHIRBaidoa Strengthening Resilience of IDPs, Returnees and Host Communities in Baidoa District.
