#Africa faces a financial challenge to implement its Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) under the Paris Agreement: the continent needs significant investment to limit global warming to 1.5°C and address the most severe impacts of climate change. Yet, current annual climate finance flows stand at just USD 30 billion—a fraction of what’s required. Investing in #ClimateFinance helps mitigate #environmental risks and unlocks vast socio-economic, ecological, and developmental benefits that far outweigh the costs. Scaling up these investments is crucial for safeguarding livelihoods, promoting green growth, and ensuring long-term resilience across Africa. What steps can be taken to bridge the climate finance gap and build a more resilient Africa? We’d love to hear your thoughts! -- #MakingFinanceWork #SustainableDevelopment #ParisAgreement #ClimateAction -- Kevin Munjal, Arthur Ndegwa, Arjumand Banu Khan, Frank Maimu, Ryan Mwanzui, Janine Ampulire Mwesigye, Joan Wanjiru Anne Kamau, Brenda Cheyech, Eva Njoroge

Today, we’re thrilled to announce the final close of the pan-African Transform Health Fund (THF), an innovative blended-finance fund backed by #FSDAi, that aims to bolster healthcare systems in #Africa. Under the management of AfricInvest Group in collaboration with the Health Finance Coalition, the Transform Health Fund exceeded its initial target, raising $111 million. The successful closing allows the fund to expand its investment into locally led health #supplychains, care delivery, and digital solutions in Africa, providing debt and mezzanine financing to scale proven high-impact health enterprises serving vulnerable communities while offering risk-adjusted returns to investors. 🔗Read more: https://lnkd.in/eH6hQQKy Anne-Marie Chidzero, Stephen K. #Africa is uniquely positioned to lead high-impact carbon projects, offering significant socio-economic, biodiversity, and environmental benefits. Yet, Africa's share of the Voluntary Carbon Market (VCM) remains just 13%, with only 36% of credits from African projects retired between 2013 and 2023. This gap reveals untapped potential and underscores the need for increased support and visibility. Promoting African projects for their exceptional climate and socio-economic contributions can boost their market share and attract greater buyer interest. Additionally, compliance with market transactions promises a new revenue stream, enhancing the scale and value of these critical projects. Exciting news! Alongside Dhamana Guarantee Company’s signing of shareholder agreements with the African Development Bank Group, The Private Infrastructure Development Group, County Pension Fund Financial Services and Cardano Development, we also formalised grant funding for a Technical Assistance (TA) facility, which is proposed to support deal pipeline development and development of investable projects. This follows our earlier collaboration with Cardano Development to establish the Dhamana Guarantee Company. The TA facility will: ✅ Provide transaction support for innovative, bankable deals. ✅ Shape the market by supporting investable projects. ✅ Cover costs for green project preparation and implementation. By reducing barriers and advancing market development, we aim to catalyse impactful transactions that can transform Africa's sustainable finance landscape. This is a key step in driving projects that will shape the future of African infrastructure! Mark Napier, Christopher Olobo, Evans Osano, DBA, Mary M.
