In 2023, Majority Party Chief Sylvanus Osoro admitted to bribing members of other parties to skip the vote on the Finance Bill. Allegations of threats and vote rigging have further eroded public confidence in MPs representing their interests. This report done by OdipoDev in partnership with Africa Data Hub highlights how different MPs voted on the 2023 and 2024 Finance Bills, revealing a significant disconnect between Parliament and the people.

About us
Africa Uncensored is an independent media house set up by Kenya’s finest investigative journalists. Our goal is to investigate, expose and empower. Having worked in investigative journalism for years we broke off to follow the stories that matter to the country and the people. Our goal is to show Africa as it really is. Africa’s story is often a disjointed summary of facts (and fiction) that don’t do this continent justice. Yet there is so much to say and show about Africa. We believe that the power of investigative and in-depth journalism can be used to hold up a mirror to Africa, and show it what it really is. We will expose wrongdoing by the powerful, and shine a light on the things that truly matter to the people of this continent. Our editorial policy is, simply, The Truth.

Our interest per SECOND is 25,162 Ksh! More numbers: -Debt Per Citizen (as of May 2023): Ksh 175,802 - Kenya’s Debt-to-GDP Ratio: 72.4% - Annual Interest: Ksh 680 billion -GDP: Ksh 13.37 trillion - Population (2023): 55.1 million If there is one thing you do today: Check out the 'Debt Clock: Kenya’s Ticking Debt Bomb' by Africa Uncensored for a real-time countdown of what we owe.. really unsettling feeling Let's not even dive into how the funds were used—corruption, questionable projects, you name it. What I want to understand is: How are currency fluctuations impacting our debt? What’s the real cost of the debt vs. the interest we've paid? Are there any solutions beyond hiking taxes? What about rethinking international financial structures? Is this sustainable? What do you think? https://lnkd.in/dgEHck9Y

Attention drug abuse management and rehabilitation professionals! Our recent documentary, "Punish or Pardon, narrated and produced by Raquel Muigai, sheds light on Kenya's upcoming plan to introduce a drug amnesty policy for addicts. This groundbreaking policy aims to differentiate between addicts and traffickers, offering them rehabilitation instead of incarceration. What implications might this hold? As stakeholders, how can we ensure this policy serves its purpose effectively and doesn't inadvertently harm those it seeks to help? Share your insights below: #PunishorPardon Here's the link, in case you missed it: https://lnkd.in/drGC2Tki
