Connection to the Jam:

A lot of people are wondering what is the connection between She Tells and Covid 19 of which is the theme of the Jam. In 2020 when Covid broke out, I was and felt extremely alone, more alone then I felt before. It was a time I got to talk to a lot more other people about how they felt, I personally had no work, no income and ended up on help from the government. It was scary, fearful and afraid. I felt like I had nothing and no one. But it was during that time I felt my mental health being at my lowest. It was then that my past began to haunt me. It was then that I felt the years of bullying had affected me the most because it was that moment, I realised… I believed those words.. the most. It was then I realised I was believing the “ You are nothing “ because I couldn’t achieve what I dreamed off. I felt miserable. I ended up with a full blown burnout. All I wanted to do was sleep. And sleep even more.. we couldn’t go anywhere, we were stuck at home.. I had to protect my parents. When the people asked why I had not made any money, the conclusion came. My mental health was gone, and I had gone back to little Simy.. this was when I decided I should tell my story. In the years after I met loads of kids in my then other work field, teaching. Came in contact with the youth. And so gone and so forth. I ended up telling them about my experiences with my burnout, my anxiety and my mental health and my story that a lot of youth began asking for more… and so, it happened… that’s where the idea of one day, writing my story and creating a way for them to relate to and for teachers to relate as well, came from.
