What an incredible homecoming! Thank you to everyone who joined us at the 2024 TSMC Taiwan OIP Ecosystem Forum in Hsinchu. The day began with opening remarks from Ray Wan, Director of TSMC Asia Pacific Business, who celebrated another remarkable year of partnership success in Taiwan, particularly in AI chip development and AI-enabled chip design. He emphasized how OIP, through its design enablement, 3Dblox standard, and 3DFabric Alliance, is instrumental in driving computational innovations. We were honored to have Dr. Unoh Kwon, SK hynix's Head of HBM Process Integration, as our guest keynote speaker. In the era of AI, High-bandwidth Memory (HBM) has become crucial for processing massive data volumes. Dr. Kwon shared SK hynix's exciting HBM roadmap and vision, emphasizing that "open collaboration is essential for the memory-centric era and ecosystem change." We want to thank Dr. Kwon once again for his presence and for SK hynix's close collaboration with TSMC. This collaborative vision was reinforced by TSMC keynote speaker Lie-Szu Juang, Senior Director of Design and Technology Platform. She highlighted how 3DIC represents a fundamental ecosystem shift requiring end-to-end solutions - from IP and design planning to physical design, analysis, and testing - with our ecosystem ready to deliver. The technical presentations throughout the day covered cutting-edge topics including AI-driven EDA solutions, silicon photonics, and diverse design applications. While attendees absorbed these thought-provoking insights, they enjoyed a taste of Taiwan through our signature bubble tea service. This week’s SK AI Summit, hosted some of the world’s leading voices driving the future of #AI, including Satya Nadella, Chairman and CEO of Microsoft; Jensen Huang, founder and CEO of Nvidia; C.C. Wei, Chairman and CEO of TSMC; and Greg Brockman, Chairman of OpenAI. Held in Seoul, the Summit provided a unique opportunity to engage in meaningful discussions about AI’s current and future capabilities so that this transformative technology lives up to its full promise. AI has the potential to strengthen our world. Already, the technology helps us make more refined decisions and facilitates easier access to information. In the longer term, AI may even help unlock cures for diseases. Still, it faces several bottlenecks that could slow its growth. Solving these challenges is not something we can achieve alone. AI is a vast and complex field, and it can only achieve its full potential through collaboration with partners across the AI ecosystem. To overcome these challenges, SK is investing in several breakthrough solutions, such as fuel cells and immersion cooling technologies, to improve data center #energy efficiency. #SKhynix is also accelerating the efficiency of its AI memory technology by developing solutions like the industry’s first 48GB 16-layer HBM3E, a pioneering achievement showcased at the Summit. Additionally, #SKtelecom is collaborating with business partners to develop AI-powered services that could become some of the industry's use cases. At SK, we believe that the progress we are experiencing in AI is possible only through collaboration across the entire ecosystem. By working closely with partners across multiple sectors — from chip technology and infrastructure to data solutions — we are helping lay the groundwork for innovations that will propel AI forward. At the TSMC OIP, SK hynix unveiled the world's first 10nm-class 6th generation 1c #DDR5 DRAM, introducing cutting-edge ultra-fine memory process technology in the early 10nm range. Completed in August, this #1cnm DDR5 operates at a speed of 8Gbps, achieving an 11% increase in speed over previous generations and more than a 9% improvement in power efficiency, potentially reducing data center costs by up to 30%.
