We’re proud to provide practical learning opportunities for university students and young professionals around the world. In Taiwan, Renesas sponsored the 8th Annual Innovation Tech Challenges this summer, which provided an opportunity for students to develop practical solutions using AI and cloud computing. More than 100 teams registered from 29 schools! Ahead of the challenge, Renesas Senior Field Applications Engineer, Steven Lee, participated in technical workshops at National Cheng Kung University where he provided onsite technical consultations to students. Renesas senior leaders and field application engineers served as judges. Students were scored on their innovation, technical depth, integration of software and hardware and presentation skills. Three of the teams that headed to the final competition used Renesas modules. One of these teams, made up of students from National Yunlin University of Science and Technology and Chang Gung University of Science and Technology, even took home the third-place prize. We’ve touched down in Japan for the next stop on our virtual tour! 🇯🇵 This summer, we welcomed a total of 221 students across nine locations in Japan, the largest intern headcount to date. With the support of our senior engineers, interns gained practical training in various aspects of Renesas business, from software and hardware design to development, quality, process engineering and more. They also had first-hand experience with Renesas culture and our commitment to excellence. University is such a transformative time in life where you begin to explore career pathways. Over the years, we have partnered with various universities across regions to support their objectives and discover talented future engineers. In this new series, we will share how we have collaborated with local universities around the globe. In the U.S., Sivaprakash Kannan, Sr. Manager, Electrical Engineering, and Da Ren, Staff Electrical Engineer, presented at a Tech Talk hosted by North Carolina State University. In a room full of aspiring Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) students, they shared an overview of our TAGIE (Transparent, Agile, Global, Innovative, Entrepreneurial) culture, how Renesas is simplifying lives through cutting-edge charging and battery management solutions, our IC development verification methodology, and more. At the recent career fair on campus, we met with over 200 ECE students. It was a home-coming experience for Jackie Oates who joined Renesas as an Associate Applications Engineer this year. "I interned with Renesas for 2 years while studying at NC State. I landed a full-time role after graduation, continuing to advance my knowledge in power electronics. To current students: Embrace every opportunity, make the most of your internships, and don’t hesitate to ask questions—curiosity is key to growth and success!" Jeffrey Whittington, a returning Software Engineering Intern and current NC State student, shared: "During the first internship two years ago, I learned more about embedded systems than I did in the master’s course I took the previous semester. I was treated like an engineer rather than just an 'intern.' What an amazing time we had in India! Semicon India and electronica India and productronica India we participated in were packed with insightful discussions, inspiring keynotes and valuable networking opportunities with customers, industry leaders and peers. Renesas CEO, Hidetoshi Shibata, had the honor of attending the Semiconductor Executives’ Summit and participated in a roundtable discussion with Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji during his trip. He gave a speech on stage at the SEMICON India inauguration ceremony. He also visited our booth, spending quality time with our Renesas team, and delivered a keynote at SEMICON India, focusing on innovation and our vision for creating a vibrant semiconductor ecosystem in India. Vivek Bhan, Senior Vice President and GM of the High Performance Computing, and Malini Narayanamoorthi, Country Head of India, kicked off the e-Mobility Conference, showcasing our commitment to future technologies. Additionally, Vivek, Malini and Srikhanth Nagaraj, Sr. Director, Head of India Sales and Marketing, participated in various panels at the e-Mobility and e-Future conferences, sharing their expertise and insights.
