It's #travel season and one of the biggest concerns travelers have is lost luggage. There is an #airport, however, that hasn't lost a single bag in its 30 year history. That airport is Kansai International Airport (KIX) in Osaka, Japan, operated by Kansai Airports, a consortium between ORIX Group and Vinci Airports. It was named "World's Best Airport for Baggage Delivery" in the baggage handling category of the World Airport Awards 2024 by SKYTRAX for the eighth time, and is the result of the hard and careful work that its staff put in each and every day. Congratulations to everyone working so hard at Kansai International Airport (KIX) to deliver passengers' bags and keep them safe. This award is testament to their commitment, care and hard work. 👏

ORIX Group will start construction of one of Japan’s largest energy storage plants in November 2024, with operations scheduled to start in 2027. With a rated output of 134 MW and rated capacity of 548 MWh, Maibara-Koto Energy Storage Plant will be constructed on a 26,000 square meter lot owned by Maibara City in Shiga Prefecture, and leased by ORIX. Power generation from solar and wind is prone to fluctuations depending on weather conditions, and grid storage plants enable effective use of renewable energy by charging when there is excess electricity and discharging when there is a shortage. ORIX entered the energy storage plant business in 2022 and is promoting the development of energy storage plants nationwide in Japan while also collaborating with partners such as municipalities considering the effective use of public land and companies with unused land. 140 containers of lithium-ion storage batteries will be installed at the plant, and a multi-purpose square with exhibits for the public to learn about the environment will also be built. ORIX bid and won the project at a long-term decarbonization energy auction, a bidding system to encourage new investments into decarbonized energy, where the Organization for Cross-regional Coordination of Transmission Operators, Japan (OCCTO) guarantees a fixed income in principle for 20 years. It can therefore ensure long-term business profits, an issue in the development of energy storage plants. This is part of ORIX Group's continued efforts to find paths to a sustainable future. #energystorage #japan #decarbonization #sustainability https://lnkd.in/gd8v7mRT

ORIX Corporation is launching a virtual power purchase agreement (PPA) initiative under the Feed-in Premium (FIP) program to trade renewable energy's environmental value. Virtual PPA is an initiative that separates environmental value from renewable electricity, allowing it to be traded independently. Our customers benefit from renewable energy's decarbonization while using their existing electricity. This initiative will be launched using the solar power generation system installed on the rooftop of Atsugi III Logistics Center, a multi-tenant facility completed in April 2024 owned by ORIX Real Estate. ORIX will continue its efforts to achieve carbon neutrality and contribute to the realization of a sustainable society. https://lnkd.in/gBs5k59z

ORIX Group has achieved record high net income of 346.1 Bln JPY (up 19% YoY), and ROE of 9.2% in FY24.3. We also booked 126.9 JPY Bln in Q4 net income, a new quarterly record high. Domestic real estate, PE and concession segments performed well, and we booked an investment gain on the sale of a partial stake in ORIX Credit. Our overseas segment profits were lower due to a decline in investment gains, and increased hedging cost burden for foreign currency denominated investments. Going forward, we forecast FY25.3 net income of 390.0 Bln JPY (up 13% YoY), aiming to achieve a second consecutive year of record high profits. To do this, we intend to invest and operate in industries and businesses that help address issues in our world, continue to accelerate the globalization of ORIX Group, and grow our asset management business while considering how to use more third-party capital. We celebrate our 60th anniversary this year, and it is thanks to the support of our many stakeholders around the world that we can continue in "Finding Paths. Making Impact." ORIX has begun the commercial operation of the Minami-Kayabe Geothermal Power Plant, Japan’s largest binary cycle geothermal facility, generating 6.5 MW in Hokkaido. This the first geothermal power plant in Japan to install a downhole line shaft pump that can extract sufficient heat even from low-temperature hot water, making large-capacity geothermal power generation possible in regions where it was previously challenging. Additionally, ORIX will conduct initiatives like forest maintenance activities with the local community to promote environmental conservation. ORIX will continue its efforts to achieve carbon neutrality by carrying out initiatives to make renewable energy the primary source of power and contribute to the realization of a sustainable society. https://lnkd.in/gihbvXDS
