Our CEO, Chris Cargill, attended the Drug Discovery Ecosystem Summit earlier this week which was held at Prime Minister Fumio Kishida's office in Tokyo. It was a great opportunity to directly address key members of the Japanese government and healthcare agencies on crucial ideas to stimulate the drug discovery ecosystem in Japan. Today is National Schizophrenia Awareness Day. Schizophrenia is a mental illness that affects millions of individuals worldwide. Neurological diseases and neuropsychiatric disorders such as schizophrenia are a key area of focus for Nxera. We are developing a number of potential treatments for schizophrenia that aim to improve outcomes and address the high unmet patient need. Our busy summer hosting work experience students is underway! The students will spend time across various departments to gain experience and learn more about the different areas of the business. We are pleased to announce that we have reached an important R&D milestone under our multi-target discovery collaboration with AbbVie targeting neurological diseases. This achievement is testament to the expertise and diligence of our platform technology team to deliver multiple stabilized GPCRs (NxStaRs) to support further structure-based drug design. We are pleased to share that we will receive $4.6 million in milestone payments from Centessa Pharmaceuticals following progress of Centessa’s novel orexin receptor 2 (OX2R) agonist, ORX750. We have expanded our strategic R&D partnership with PrecisionLife into auto-immune disorders to identify novel targets for drug discovery. The partnership aims to establish new drug targets and subsequently potential precision targeted therapies for auto-immune disorders, each linked to subgroups of patients by PrecisionLife’s mechanism-based patient stratification biomarkers.
