The Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Japan is looking for an Expo Event Support Staff Officer. In the run-up to and during the World Expo 2025 Osaka, the Netherlands Embassy in Japan will organise a wide range of activities, including trade missions, seminars, matchmaking and cultural events. To help organise Expo activities in the domain of the key themes of agrifood & horticulture and high tech & digitalization we are looking for a temporary Expo Event Support Staff Officer. The Expo Event Support Staff Officer reports directly to the Agricultural Counsellor but will be working for both the offices of the Agricultural Counsellor and the Science, Technology & Innovation Counsellor. Given the variety in tasks and need for collaboration with various parties, both internal and external, the potential candidate should be an energetic, flexible and creative team player with an open-mind, who is service-oriented, able to work between different cultures and excellent at organizing and managing events. Fluency in both Japanese and English is a must. This vacancy is notified both internally and externally. We look back on a successful visit of the Dutch Innovative Foods mission to Japan. The mission aimed to explore the market and innovations on alternative proteins and healthy food in the run-up to forming a cluster. The mission was co-organized with the East Netherlands Development Agency Oost NL as part of #Road2Osaka.   During the visit, the delegation visited two large gatherings, a symposium organized by the NL embassy and the general meeting of the Food Tech Public-Private Council. The Food Tech Public-Private Council is a government-industry-academia collaboration council whose secretariat is MAFF, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, and whose members include food companies, start-ups, research institutes, and government agencies that are working to promote foodtech. The mission participated in a subcommittee meeting of the Dialogue on Agricultural Cooperation with MAFF and several inspiring company visits were made to big corporates like Ajinomoto Co., Inc., Mizkan Group Corporation, Asahi Beverages Group Foods and startups like Next Meats. Knowledge institutions were also visited @Tsukuba-Plant Innovation Research Center of the University of Tsukuba and @National Agriculture and Food Research Organization (NARO).    In summary, the mission yielded amongst others, the following: -         Sights into how Japan deals with alternative proteins. There is plenty of movement in the market, primarily driven by health and taste. Furthermore there is a clear interest in cooperation.  -         New contacts with companies and organizations in Japan, enthusiastic to contribute to the program at Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai that OostNL is preparing. -         Points of contact for knowledge exchange on innovation between knowledge institutions in Japan and the Netherlands.    We look forward to new collaborations and welcome new insights that will enrich the program at Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan.   ====== 成功裡に終了したオランダ・イノベーティブ・フーズ使節団の訪日を振り返ります。使節団の目的は、クラスター形成に向けて、代替タンパク質と健康に良い食品に関する市場とイノベーションの動向を探ることでした。この使節団は#Road2Osaka の一環として東部オランダ開発公社@Oost NLと共催されました。   訪問中、使節団はオランダ大使館主催のシンポジウムとフードテック官民協議会総会という2つの大きな会合を訪問しました。フードテック官民協議会は、@農林水産省が事務局を務め、フードテック推進に取り組む食品企業やスタートアップ企業、研究機関、行政機関等で構成される産学官連携の協議会です。使節団は農林水産省との農業協力対話の分科会に参加し、@味の素、@ミツカン 、アサヒグループ食品（株）などの大企業や、@ネクストミーツなどのスタートアップを訪問しました。また、@筑波大学つくば機能植物イノベーション研究センター や @農業・食品産業技術総合研究機構（NARO）を訪問しました。   要約すると、この使節団により、次の成果が得られました。   - 日本が代替タンパク質をどう扱っているかについての洞察。市場には多くの動きがあり、主に健康と嗜好が原動力となっている。さらに、協力への関心も高い。 - 日本の企業や団体との新たなつながりが生まれOost NLが準備している2025年大阪・関西万博のプログラムへの貢献が期待される。 - 日本とオランダの知識機関間のイノベーションに関する知識交換の連絡窓口。   私たちは新たなコラボレーションに期待し、2025年大阪・関西万博のプログラムをより豊かにする新たな洞察を歓迎します。   NLExpo2025 - Netherlands participation at Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO) | Partner in Sustainable Development #alternativeproteins #healthyfood #InnovativeFoods #Expo2025 #nextmeats  

We are thrilled to welcome a Dutch mission to Japan in the field of alternative proteins and healthy food this week led by Regional Development Agency Oost NL and the embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. The mission members will explore the market trends in Japan and collaboration opportunities between Japan and the Netherlands. We started the week with a meeting with Mizkan, a well-known Japanese company founded in 1804. During a lunch meeting, we got to taste their delicious vinegar drink. Additionally, we tried their yellow pea noodles, which had an amazing bite to them. The program included the symposium ‘Alternative proteins’ organized by the Japan team of @Netherlands Agricultural Network. The well-attended symposium with over 100 participants highlights the growing interest and excitement around the topic of alternative proteins. The delegation participated in a session of the Dialogue on Agricultural Cooperationon focusing on alternative proteins and precision fermentation with the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF). During this session, valuable information was exchanged on government policies and market conditions in Japan and the Netherlands. The mission continued to visit the Institute of Food Sciences and Technologies (IFST) of Ajinomoto. IFST is dedicated to developing innovative technologies and products that bring deliciousness, nutrition, and customer value to people around the globe. At Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan, from June 5 to June 16, the Dutch Pavilion will be fully dedicated to alternative proteins and healthy food. On Monday 13 May 2024, the 4th Diversity & Inclusion symposium was held on the beautiful ship the Clipper Stad Amsterdam, docked in Yokohama. The event was hosted by the City of Amsterdam and co-hosted by The Netherlands Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Japan (NCCJ), NN Life Japan, Randstad Japan, and the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Japan. This time we discussed the topic of generational inclusivity, and more specifically how we can include the younger generations. We were honored to be joined by the Vice-Mayor of Amsterdam Sofyan Mbarki who shared his valuable insights on this topic. On Tuesday 14 May 2024, we organized a Start- and Scale-up Pitch and Networking Event at the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Japan for 9 Dutch startups, attended by almost 100 guests. The #startups came to Japan for SusHi Tech Tokyo 2024 Global Startup Program Official Account as part of a mission from the City of Amsterdam.
