Get on board with summer fun at #Aichi Prefecture’s Owari Tsushima Tenno Festival. Held on July 27 and 28 this year, the festival is a grandiose spectacle of light and water with a history of nearly 600 years. On the first night, five boats adorned with over 500 lanterns cross the river, creating a fantastic scene with their lights reflected on the water. The following morning, ten young men with cloth banner-adorned pikes leap one after another into the Tenno River from the boats, swim to the shore, and run to Tsushima Jinja Shrine ⛩️ to pray for a safe and healthy summer. https://lnky.jp/CfSMs3C #UNESCOIntangibleCulturalHeritage

They say the way to the heart is through the stomach, and Polish national Michal Taberski has won the hearts of locals in Daisen City, Akita Prefecture. Having moved there after marrying a Japanese woman, he established the Polmeat brand, which produces sausages using pork 🐖 and other local ingredients from Akita, such as Akita's famous pickles, using traditional Polish methods. In addition to this contribution to the local economy, he also gives lectures at a local agricultural high school 🏫 and mentors students as trainees to help nurture the food producers of the future. https://www.polmeat.jp/ #LandOfDiversity

Take a stroll back in time when you visit Magome, in Gifu Prefecture, a place bustling with travelers since the Edo period (1603-1868). Magome thrived as an inn town along the old Nakasendo Highway that connected Tokyo and Kyoto centuries ago. You can still see traces of those days today, as the old streets lined with local-fare restaurants 🍴 and lodging facilities have been recreated to pass on the town’s history and culture to future generations. Festivals and events, such as illumination displays with lanterns set up along the main road at night, are encouraging interaction between residents and visitors. https://kiso-magome.com/ #RegionalRevitalization
