Well first off, it was good overall. Not my best renpy adventure ever, but had a good immersive time~ !
- Switching caracter was great.
- I loved Abigail voice and stances (...reminded me of fluttershy X_X) - althought I would have loved that you'd take advantage of her 200 year hermit life to... Use old expressions or word we don't use anymore. Or relate to old cultures and morals that'd weird us all. She should be weirder ! Missed opportunity, weird can be the cutest I'm sure !
- Graphics were nice and lovely, and the overall vibe too !
I've got a few critique on the story (in advance : sorry for the weird english. I'm french !) :
- Morgan's job aspect is weird. She isn't attached to it, she doesn't seem to have any reason to stick with it at the first place. And still she... Does stick to it even if she knows her life is at stake (then the job part get totally forgotten at some point). And it doesn't add much to the story. Also there is a mention about a small glass snake being interesting and then it's totally forgot (well... Maybe that... Is normal actually. :o)
- Geladura doesn't explain why she was so suspicious at the first place, it's a... Rather convenient but non-explained timing ? I mean if Madd/Tara were part of the conspiracy, they'd already know the cat was special after all... The behaviour still could be pinned on the "cat-influence behaviour" I guess, but it seems rather unexplained as most of Geladura's doing makes sense afterward (while she was supposed to be worsening).
- The "mind control" of Madisson breaking the heaters is never truly confirmed, but if it were it's overblown (would be way easier to mind-control her to commit suicide mind you ?) - and if it wasn't it... Why don't give an alternate explaination ?
- When the elder tree is killed, it weakens the forest. For a time. Then a little time after, the forest still give a lot of magic power and seem... Totally unfazed by it. It's like "I've got the emergency warning on the battery of 5 minute remaining, but I'm still able to use the most energy intensive stuff for an hour !?" Weird. The only answer I see here is "suck it, it's magic !" ^^'
- Also to kill the elder tree, Morgan is manipulated to use heavy magic to destoy the tree. So she might be special for it right ? But it's not really explained why there is power running in this Morgan's family... She doesn't show much of it either, only at the most critical moment while jumping in the pool with Geladura. Kind of out of nowhere though.
- If this power remaining in Morgan's family was so special, why does our "Bad faerie" drop her so easely ? She waited her for ~2 DECADES. To take on a really minor celebrity ? Doesn't seem sound. The only explaination that is given is "she is bored". Okay ! But then why didn't she comissioned a celebrity ? Mayor should have the funds to get some greater artist/politician/anything...
Also It's not explained why the Mayor would have any interest into controling the town. Sheer evil ? She doesn't even use them for her plans, while she could have used them...
- Weirder : why Maddison is fit to be a faerie queen ? No clue given :(
- The forest guardian role is kind of enigmatic. It helps a bit, but the guardian part is totally not showcased ever. It's like its only role is to be big and stroll randomly in blizzards.
- It was really anticlimatic when, at really crucial moment, you can hear the Mad/Tara duo rambling about their vlogger past... And it doesn't happens just once. Come on now ! Priorities ! Lifes at stake ? Sure you can be sad about the past, but someone might die in 5 minute you know ? X_X
- I wish we knew why sacrifice had to be made by the villager for centuries if the spirit of the forest was nice at the first place... And why it stopped at some point.
On the design side : I'm a bit saddened that every body type chosen is "mannequin" with hudge boobs n' all. Not progressive ! Would have loved a bit of silhouette diversity.
