this was pretty short but I loved everything about it, the aesthetic, the title, the resolution... i have no notes XD

thanks for playing, im glad you liked it!

cool concept

so the string length isnt correlated actually whatever you put in the result is random between different types of outcomes (very good, good, mediocre, I think). This was a tough decision that I thought a LOT about because idk this seems important but these are the main reasons behind:

- it would be quite technically complex to judge the proposals meaningfully, best I could do would probably be an HTTP call to a LLM but that would prevent offline play.

- that way I can balance the experience for everyone, i.e. make a run where you do politics "relatively easy but not guaranteed", i.e. make sure you can win without too much effort but you do need a sustained investment, its not just a one-click thing. Creating that vibe is what I focused on.

- finally, and perhaps most importantly, I didnt want to bias the game with my own political thoughts, I wanna be open to every radical proposals. for instance i dont believe personally that anarchism would work well, but i do wnat to encourage people to think in that direction and maybe try it out even. It's in a spirit of "no bad idea except doing nothing", though ofc you can enter bad ideas and still get points as a side result xD but maybe someone has an amazing idea that nobody has ever seen, and it would be the opposite of the game spirit to discourage that.

hi, thanks for this, it's pretty interesting. it's very easy to get lost in the void though so maybe the void should be less void, or there should be a button to TP back to origin, or idk...

i still suck at intuiting >3D but this helped me a bit in the right direction ^^

its pretty nice, definitely one step above the usual superhero drivel.

cute little poem, i really liked how "life is a game without an ending"

Hi, thanks for playing the game but most importantly thanks for advancing science! I think we can conclude that the Bee movie was indeed a positive contribution to the progress of mankind, but we should be careful about generalizing this result XD

(let me know if you want an actual serious answer to how this works)

hi! thanks for playing! What difficulty levels did you try?

thanks for playing! to be fair it is a pretty strong signal xDD it does feel 4 orders of magnitude bigger than discovering magic XD

I really love this game, it somehow manages to be extremely smart, extremely poetic and extremely silly. I think and hope it can bring important perspectives to people who otherwise wouldn't be exposed to them.

thanks a lot for playing ^^ you made me wish I had kept a copy of all the different versions cause it was pretty subtle at first and i increased the heavy handedness with every playtest XDD

yeah not a lot of people are going to stumble on these options and ultimately they dont have much impact but they werent very hard to do so when i had the idea I absolutely went for it xDD

Thanks for playing!

I'm still trying to get those under control :( I'm so frustrated cause I want to do justice to the work of the composer who worked with me on this but im running into the limits of html I think. Anyway I haven't given up yet it's just that things have been a bit chaotic for me lately

yes, but it's not easy. if you managed to win, the perfect win is not much harder you just have to be fast and lucky. if you didn't manage to win, it's very ok (i'm still working on making this a bit more discoverable). You need to think outside the box and to not be afraid to tackle challenging difficulty settings even if they seem impossible.

I see, it is interesting, it's hard to make an experience that is clearly "random choice". ありがとうございました

面白かったけど i don't understand what this has to do with ensemble aleatoires

yes, it is impossible to win in normal difficulty, you'll remain stuck in neoliberal capitalism which is a doomed system. If you want to win, you'll have to chose the impossible difficulty which gives you access to more options. You can't win if you don't chose to face things that seem impossible.

hello! first of all, thank you for giving this game a chance! I can try to help you if you tell me more about the troubles you're facing.

but i think that the most important tip I can give you is "dont be afraid to try the impossible difficulty"

thanks for the feedback, I'm sorry you experienced that, I can definitely add an option to deactivate the visual effect (though right now im a bit swamped). The hope was that this effect wouldn't be too annoying because people don't spend much time on the title screen, I was anticipating they'd move to the main part of the game within seconds.

Hi, thanks for playing! I hope you had a good time

i love the liminal jam but IRL commitments dont allow me to participate this time. I do want to check out all the results though so I'll see you there xD

hmmm i think theres value in the ending, i see it as "the simple resolution offered by the temple/gate is an illusion", instead, the true accomplishment is accepting the quest is endless, life-long, never over, which is represented by being a self-questioning statue ^^ admittedly this doesnt feel very emancipatory but at least it makes a lot of sense to me.

Is the big project this is a vertical slice of the same one from the observer or is it a different project?

sorry i didnt play this game during the jam, I played a lot but there were too many, but when i noticed on your profile you were from enjmin I had to give it a shot xD

i liked it a lot, its pretty nice, but it makes me want to know more about the colleagues. the reveal was a bit fast, i didnt have time to worry about them betraying me XD

Hi! its pretty nice, i think the ending was a little buggy for me, some text flashed on the screen as i got teleported, but it doesnt change the fact that it was a pretty cool ending that i honestly didnt expect ^^ is there alternate endings?

also i dont think i saw something that was obviously a "gate", theres a temple in the distance and a waterway, did i miss something or did you mean for the gate to be ambiguous in which case can i consider that i passed some sort of metaphorical gate to become a statue?

cheers

hmmm thats a pretty unique strategy but it does check out, I cant prove it wouldnt work xDD

thanks for playing!!

Thank you for your kind words, congrats on your ranking too! There's so many great contributions it's hard to have to rank them xD

thank you! I'll definitely keep an eye on your future projects too! The Observer gave me tons of food for thoughts I hope I can make a project around this themes someday!

Hi! Thanks a lot for playing :) I'm very happy you enjoyed it. I wrote a little making off/essay kind of writeup if you're hungry for that https://yo252yo.wordpress.com/2024/06/05/centrist-simulator/  =) I'll try to bring it to exhibitions or museums or whatever

A bit late but I feel obligated to dedicate this game to the memory of the Centre party https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Centre_Party_(Netherlands)

thank you so much for your kind words! the "accidentally dismissing deaths" was an accident and i loved it so much xD

The "narrative engine" like the rest of the game is open source so you can see how it works: https://github.com/yo252yo/normalidle/blob/main/src/narrative.js my bet was that introducing a relatively high number of small lists could yield exponential number of combinations that feel fresh even if theyre not that complex (i.e. going "horizontal" instead of vertical). I did write a lot of causes of death that can be related to climate change with the help of an LLM but I feel like we missed a lot, to be honest. But whatever I originally didnt think i'd finish the narrative engine before the end of the jam. In fact, would you believe it, I planned to release it separately as part of a game called "divided attention" that I pitched to BRIEFS https://www.goldextra.com/en/briefs-2024-death-call-open-now if they select the pitch I'll work on the engine some more and add more diversity and procedurally generated portraits cause people care about pictures much more than words xD

I do feel that a place like this is missing, the game jam is nice and there's AMAZE once a year but there is nothing the rest of the time

thanks for reading

actually the idea of idle game came very early on in the process, what better way to convey the cost and power of inaction

thanks a lot for playing! That's exactly what i was going for

try to play in other difficulties, some will give you more actions:)

pretty cool little management game, I also won but I did have to sacrifice some people on the way

I like the idea but it seems very hard to me to keep a movement alive when society isolates us more than ever. maybe i should get into lemmy

can you really punch god?

tres cool comme concept j'aime bien les projets de ce genre
