Hey, there's 6-8 different ui selections you can choose from as well as a couple for battling but you can also change it yourself as much as you want in the code or if you edit the sprites. Monsters can't wear equipment yet but it's easy to add and is a planned feature that will be added soon. There is water traversal^^

Hello~ Animated idle sprite implementation is already in the engine, and adding attack, hurt, etc wouldn't be difficult or time consuming at all.

If you need help setting it up, let me know in the MonMae discord server and I will direct you exactly on how to do it :)

Yes it's very possible and very easy to do :)

You're welcome~ Thank you so much for the support! If you ever have more questions or need help please let me know in the discord linked at the bottom of this page :)

You're welcome~ Thank you for the support!

Hey~ It's limited only to this engine, but you can buy just the assets instead (and use in any engine) from this bundle :
https://itch.io/s/73088/retro-boy-assets-complete-bundle

Hahaha, great. Enjoy it~

Heyo~ just wanted to let you know MonMae (and all related asset packs) just went on a sale in case you were interested :)

Absolutely! You can use 100% of your own assets, or 50% mine and 50% yours... whatever you want or need :)

My assets simply serve as a placeholder for people that aren't artistically inclined, but you're welcome to use as much or little as you want for your projects~

Hello~ There's no limit to how many types you can have, but currently about 13 or so are available. It's also quite easy to add in more :) and of course you can change the names rather accessibly~

Effectiveness amounts and the type chart is also fully customizable!

it occasionally goes on pretty generous sales :) the reason for the high cost is due to the inclusion of the included assets that comes with the engine. Though, once the engine gets finished there will be cheaper versions available that don't include all of the assets and just only focus on the engine

I see :) Either way, it's a good idea and I didn't think of it before so..  I will add it! Thanks for the suggestion :)

Hi, thanks for the suggestion :) Sure! It's easy to make so I will add them for you^^

(1 edit)

Sounds great Tiger, thank you so much :) You're free to make as many projects as you want with our engine^^ Enjoy~

Hello :) All of this is perfectly fine, you can add your own custom monsters to the game, if you need to you can even commission my team to make them for you, but probably you won't need to go that far

Yes the game you play in browser on this page is made through this program so you should be able to do it just the same :)

Hey~ Just the assets. Of course, if you make a game with the assets you can sell that game using these assets :) you just can't strip the assets out and sell those by themselves, or strip the assets out to use in another engine (if you wanna use a different engine please see my individual asset packs for sale). Hope that clears it up!

Hello, thank you so much for your interest in the project :) I haven't delved into multiplayer yet as there as still some things I wanna do first that I believe are more important and more useful for the users. You can read about what I have in story in the devlogs attached to this page :)

As for multiplayer, I think probably it will be the last thing I do, if it's within the realm of possibility. I'm planning to have all the features I have planned for MonMae finished sometime next year, so once that happens, I will do my research and see if multiplayer can be added somehow, because that's a feature that not only lots of people have asked for but it's also something I really want to do and implement and see in my own projects too^^

Sets 1 and 2~

Hey~ The only assets that don't come with it are 2 of the starters sets :)

Sorry :( The only thing I can recommend for this instead is watching the YouTube tutorials (they're linked on this page) and also joining my discord server and asking other people what they think or how their experience has been.
Eventually I'm gonna be uploading even more tutorials, and also probably even some devlogs so that you can get further insight, but for now what I mentioned above is all I can offer you.
When the tool goes on Steam we might have a demo, but that's a long ways off.

Just picked these up, they're great^^ Also saw your game and added it to my wishlist~ I'll let you know if I have any suggestions for this art pack, can't wait to dig in and start exploring what you've built here :)

The engine is always growing and getting new features. Here's a few we talked about recently : New battle types, Visual Cutscene building tool, Character Maker tool, Shop and item builder tool.
Currently we're focusing on the release of our game Dokimon which we're planning to push out this year. But you can read more about what's to come for Monmae at this link.

If you're curious what MonMae has to offer currently I'd like to suggest checking out the MonMae page, playing the game preview embedded into the page, or watching the YouTube tutorials of the engine.

Thank you I will fix it :) My bundle pass is always available, but sometimes the price gets increased as I add lots of new assets to it each year. I believe this bundle pass started at 120$, though of course everyone who bought it at that price months/years ago got all the new stuff.

As for your question on features are you asking about assets that will be added to this bundle or features that will be added to MonMae the engine itself?

Ahh, thank you. I will fix it. I appreciate you letting me know!

Hey I'm so glad to hear that :) Let me know if you have any questions! You can also chat with me and fellow developers in the discord linked at the bottom of the page, or check out the YouTube tutorials if you wanna learn more about the engine^^

Ahhh, you wanna fight people? I see. You can do it pretty easily by simply swapping out the monster sprites with people. Someone I know was making a super hero fighting game that was a team of super hero's using powers against bad guys in turn based combat. It was pretty cool!

Hello, of course you can battle other trainers! Did you play the demo? I'm not sure if the demo let's you get as far as battling players, but it's very possible yes :)

We even have an intuitive trainer editor that we just recently released that lets you make trainers and assign their monster teams. You can see a video of that here.

Oh wow that sounds really fun! :D Best of luck with your project!

I haven't uploaded an asset pack for UI yet, but I basically have on finished. Just need to work on the itch page and a neat looking cover for it :) It would have a bunch of UI options, buttons, and other fun stuff :)

Absolutely~ There are separate assets available that contain the artwork. You can find those here:  Assets

You can add your own sprites and/or edit the ones you bought to use in your game however you please :)

The thing that's not allowed is exporting assets from MonMae to use them in a elsewhere. If you're making a game with MonMae, you can add or edit sprites as you please.

If you buy artwork in one of my bundles or asset packs, you can edit them or use them together with other assets for your game as you please~

If you have any more questions feel free to contact me in our discord channel (it's linked on this page). I can respond much quicker on there :)

The game res is 256x144, so these are 256 wide, and a little shorter than 144 (as a bottom isn't really needed since you have the battle ui there)

Heyo~ I don't have these at the moment but I'm going to be adding some really really soon. This week I've been gathering up what UI and Battle Animations I have and putting them together, and so far I'm nearly finished I just have to create the covers for them^^

If you don't wanna wait for those, unfortunately I don't have any recommendations that I know for sure would fit or match up with my other art, but I do know that there's lots of great, talented artists on this platform and I'm sure you can find something :)

Hello, we do have plans to make a version similar to how you outlined at a discounted price, but we're waiting until the majority of MonMae updates are finished to keep development smooth. If we open up and start updating and supporting two versions of MonMae it would create difficulties and delays.

I think currently 122 or 124? Every monster has 2 versions also, 56x56 and 16x16 sizes. We add more monsters occasionally as well, we started at about 80 or so and increase the price sometimes when we add more.

Hello, thank you for the comment :) We don't have that, but we do have this bundle for assets only, and the price for this bundle increases as we make and add assets to it.
