It still seems to have audio desync issues randomly.
Id actually be up to looking into these issues if you ever decide to make this game open source

Additionally for anyone else wanting to run a desktop build of this game, before there is an official one, theres a not so good D.I.Y. solution to it:

  1. get a godot 3.5 export template for your platform of choice
  2. By using your browser debug tools and going to the network tab, find where it gets the index.pck from and use that link to download it normally
  3. rename the export template to index.(whatever your platform does for executables)
  4. Place both files in the same directory and execute the template

This has worked for me on linux and fixes the audio issue almost entirely.

The game seems fun so far, but i have a few recommendations that would be nice to have.

  • Desktop build
    • The game seems quite desynced on browser so having a build for linux and windows would be nice. Since this is a godot game, this shouldnt be much of an issue
  • Offset
    • Even with a Desktop build people might still experience desync (keyboard, monitor and audio latency). so it would be nice to be able to set some offset values (such as audio to input offset and video to input offset)
  • Rebindable keys
    • Especially on harder levels up/down and w/s get uncomfortable to use. I started using w/down, but being able to change the keybinds for a more comfortable experience would be nice.
  • Scroll speed
    • Changing the scroll speed of the notes allows players on higher levels to make them feel less cluttered and readable

These are the main issues i have encountered so far, and ill give some more minor ideas that ive had aswell

  • Screen Flip
    • The Screen flip effect seems fun but when you die while flipped the fail screen is also flipped. un-flipping the game after death would be nice
  • Beat Lines
    • Having lines scroll bye on the floor on every beat would be nice visually and would help readabillity
  • Hit/Miss Counter
    • Both in menu and at the end of a level it would be nice if the game told you how many Notes you have hit out of how many are in the level, or how often you have missed (excluding bombs)

Otherwise:
The music is a bop. The game is fun and the pixel art looks nice, great job on those!

Thanks alot, would be fun to allow higher scores again later on, (also i really like the name absorbius over the one it had for a few days, even if its memey its easier to say and to remember

Hummus, "never gonna skunk"

well look at my new score :>

(saying here cuz idk if its intended and just ultra secret) pressing S in the game sets your hit points to 20

Fun and neat little game

My friend is quite good with the mouse. And im on steamdeck which has a touchscreen (tho its a bit jank and doesnt recognize input sometimes due to it simulating the cursor)

Thank you!

NIK is the friend of mine whos just sitting right next to me rn

(1 edit)

I dont really understand what you mean by that, and im unsure how well that would scale in  harder charts.

But thank you for the feedback, ill consider it as an option maybe.

(1 edit)

yah, a friend of mine exported the game, and didnt have the engine set to english :P

now 14630 :D

would be nice if you could check out my game, if you havent already.

Also if you havent already, it  would be nice if you could check out mine too!

Would be nice if you could check out my submission aswell (if you havent already)

Played, Rated and gave feedback.

The music gets quite repetitive over time.
The background feels quite distracting (maybe slow it down and less sharp differences.
The concept and idea is nice.

Already played and rated!

The game is fun. Textures repeating so much makes it look a little not so good.
Getting the highscore isnt that difficult if you know that you can move with arrow keys. without turning the character.

The music doesnt get too anoying over time and the pixel art is nice besides the tiling.

The game is fun, but on resolutions below 1080x1920 the main menu seems to not have any buttons on it (of screen which also seems to be the problem Vetticon had).

The physics are a bit janky, not allowing you to jump sometimes, getting stuck to walls and launching into the air when approaching a corner quickly.
The art looks good in most places.

Music is bouncy and fun with a nice retro feel.

They can barely even see this comment in the submission page anymore, and a tiny bit of  competition doesnt hurt haha.

Oh no the warning it came to late. Ive already played this for quite a while and even rated it. You shouldnt do the same mistake!

btw, it feels like the punishment for absorbing bad is way worse then the punishment for morbing good in the long term.
Since one single bad absorb removes health gen completely from what i noticed. while a bad morb just doesnt give points and hurts only once (which can easily be regenerated again when its still active)

yes combo gets interrupted in those 2 cases, and red particles are emitted. also the inputs are chosen in a way so that you can use up to 4 fingers on each side ";" is the 4th key on US keyboard layout right next to the "L"

seems good, also new score again just now haha, i think ill actually break 15 k without the myths

The rule is to press one of the keys (asdf) left hole,(jkl;) right hole in time to when the orbs get absorbed. the colour particles give a clue as to how well you timed it  (blue is best). if multiple orbs arrive at the same time you can press multiple keys at the same time.

humus ("Skunky maybe final for now") gotta do a bit of absorbin

Its a known bug i havent been able to fix yet. since i havent had much of an interest in continuing development on this game after its game jam.

yes i did find the 2 hidden clues. but the 1000 riddle is a little to vague for me yet.

The art of the game is great imho.

Nice little game, love the pixel art.
got a score of 91 which is nice i think.
would love to see more games with this art style

Fun game. but the difficulty curve is very random. Which makes hunting for high scores quite annoying. since alot of tries are doomed from the start due to rng.

thanks alot for the feedback!
hoping that i can make it grow bigger after jam

oh nice thanks!

Have both played and rated it

would be nice if you could still try to check out my game too. if you have the time to

So got past 14k points now which is nice i think.

Fun little game, a bit confusing to figure out whos absorbing you here and there, and the pickups having a small hitbox is a bit annoyingbut good otherwise
