Taiko Drums! They just sound amazing, its almost cheating if you want to do sombre but epic pieces. Glad you enjoyed them!

Thank you! No i played the piece but recorded it via midi back into the DAW, then I put some swelling echoes, and some large but gentle reverb to give to that spacey feel, then chose 2 different mic positions in the VST which seems to give it a more natural sound than a single position mic. Really glad you enjoyed them!

Minimalist, yet epic, and really well orchestrated. Hard to believe you're new to composing! Beautiful work, top marks!

Man i cant believe you called what i did experimental, in comparison to this great work! Great balance of chaotic elements, but keeping enough groove and/or drive to keep the ear centred, no easy feat! Also that dirty bass line in patient zero is  excellent! well done

Thank you, since Im from the Caribbean, its basically a legal requirement to represent the turtle diaspora in a profile pic! And thank you for the kind words on the music ,whats itch for it not to experiment!

It was a fun self challenge, as soon as i thought of the name "fugue state" for the game, I knew I had to at least try to make one

Thank you so much!

Thank you! I really appreciate that, esp since your piece Tsuya is exceptional!

Wow you really squeezed everything out of midi on this, really impressive stuff, well done!

Cool tracks, you really got the slightly frantic dreamy vibe down. I love the quadruplet x3 to octuplet (i had to look that word up for this) you used at the begging of Descent, really gives a melodic but slightly of kilter vibe. Nice work

First off gotta say  A for the artwork, and think fiddlersgreen hit it on the head, you really channelled that old school game music feel, fun light, chill but a little bit chaotic,  and then you smack us with the change up in pace and feel when we get to the absolute banger, tiger shark tussle. So so good, was not expecting that! Really great work!

This the one of the most fleshed out and complete OSTs ive heard so far, it really covers the full range of levels and sense of challenges faced, really impressive overall. loved the final boss track, definitely got some of that Zelda vibe in there, and just the right amount of chaos in the music to feel the frantic energy at the final push. Really great work!

Your world is a very chill place! Makes me wanna just close my eyes and drift off. Great full composition, well done

Very chill vibe, good music for a liminal space.

Very cool and original take, loved the sythnwave chase track, would definitely get me amped up to die in a fiery death running from the police. Nicely done

Hey nice job, I will say that the feel you've made with the music definitely matches the concepts you're going for i could feel the depression, i could feel the fear, conveying what you want in music is the most important/difficult part IMO.  As for critique, Jofes makes a good point that your instrumentation is very linear, 4 has the most variations, and drive in it, but even there your melody has very little variation in its rhythm. Set your melody, then go back over it and just add some 8th, 16th notes even triplets every other bar in a little run or arpeggio for some variation that won't really mess with the pacing you've set in the OG melody. From a mix standpoint, it always tempting to add that lovely warm bass, but I'd recommend pulling it back a bit on it, as it does over power the few other instruments in there except for 2 where the guitar is the one that's too loud. Mixing is a MF but an important MF. good work over all, keep it up

Nice Job Teamo, very sombre and grand, the first track reminds me of the music from FFX, with just the twist of the occasional jazzy dim chords. great work, I'd play this game

Love the phasey distorted and spacey guitars in the planet selection theme, definitely other world vibes, very well suited, and the jazzy laid back hotel, yet it still got those spacey guitars. really nice at keeping a motif, and still sounding so different. Great work

I'm so glad you think so, I got a bit too deep into the mix level, where sometimes your ears plays trick on you, so its a relief to hear you say that

you get me!

Thank you so much!

Great stuff, really strong compositions, a bit of dynamics in the strings and brass would have helped it sound more natural, but apart from that, its beautiful music well done!

Beautiful stuff, you really focused on creating a soundscape, giving a rich and melancholic atmosphere, while at the same time being a little disjointed/dissonant  in parts, much like an incomplete memory. well done

Nice work!  Really well put together, I love the drumming on the Neon City jam

Thank you! I really appreciate that

its working, keep it up!

Really well composed, and mixed, listening on head phones, and the panning random little sounds like insects flying off past my ear,  are a really nice touch to make the listener feel they are in the fields or jungle.  Very cool!

Very nice, simple and catchy! I heard a bit of Beck in there as well. cool stuff, well done!

And yet all I needed to hear, thank you!

Clearly a man of culture

The automated panning with the soft saw pad was a really nice touch, quite gentle on the ears, and yet made it feel more chaotic. really good energy transition between the tracks too. Nicely done!

The DnB one is a nice vibe its a pretty navel gazy DnB track, but it works. great job!

This must be one of the best thematically linked OSTs I've heard, both in terms of the motif you've used, and the transitions. Can help but bop to cybernation battle, really good balance of chaos ,and the restful motif. great job!

loving the Floating through space followed by a rollercoaster of energy through out. Its hard to make such a chaotic vibe feel so groovin, you nailed it with 66:66, well done!

Thank you! also props for the Jupiter djinn

Thank you! yea i had fun with that, I gently rolled and egg shaker in front of a microphone,  rolled off some of the high end, and surrounded in a comforting blanket of reverb and echo, similar technique for the wind, and left it minimal so it just felt cavernous. Im really glad you liked it, seems the snare was hit and miss for many

Great work, pretty epic compositions, and an impressive scope! Using BBCs dynamics and expressions a bit more would give your strings and winds a much more natural feel, but the actual composition and orchestration is great! well done!

(1 edit)

This is phenomenal! The flute line over the epic back drop in the corridors of the time palace really gives a sense of awe and excitement, and I really liked the half to triplet to quarters build you had at the end of the fountain of youth, such a nice way to build resolution. But I have the same question as Aesaire, I think of percussion as driving the song, but you've made it almost an embellishment. What was the thought process there?

Great work over all, definitely one of the bests ones of this jam for me!
