I didn't get to play this one during the jam, but I wish I had, this is super fun, fits with the theme, constantly keeps the player engaged with the fire spreading and the ever dwindling life bars... I regret not being able to contribute to that deserved high rating!

Thank you for your comment, and I’m glad you liked the game! Yeah, maybe my thumbnail or title could have used some work, I’d like to think the lower play count is my fault so I can fix it in my future projects.

Fantastic little game. Really really polished. Had a great time even when I was failing! But I do think the deaths could be sped up a bit, it always felt like a momentum killer having to wait around a second to get back into it.

Super fun to control. Everything feels consistent and fair. The timer was a bit bugged out, probably due to webgl shenanigans. As far as I can tell there's no leaderboard, which is a shame cuz I'd love to race other people on this.

I should really start using home row.

Yeah this thing just keeps going down then back up intermittently. I hope this is just affecting me, but if not that’s unfortunate.

It could really use some sound, but it's a fully functioning platformer. Maybe let the player hold onto more than one of those cooling items at a time, or don't let them pick up more than one so they know they only get one at a time.

Jump King, you can't just dress up as a different game made by a different person with different mechanics and expect me to forgive you and let you back into my life! Even if you do have the exact same tough but fair gameplay I find so addicting... and unorthodox controls that take time to show you their depth... with your difficulty being perfectly balanced to make every jump in challenge feeling oh so sweet to overcome... oh what the hell, let's give this another shot.

Done!

Damn bro, you cooked with that title screen music harder than the trees I failed to save!

I beat it in around 292 seconds! There we go, now I'm forever at the top of the leaderboard that is this comment section. If I had to give criticism, I'd say the enemy bullet patterns felt a bit inconsistent, so it was hard to recreate a route with the enemies always behaving differently. But the character was fun to control so that carried it.

Heck yeah, I'll take another player! https://picklejargames.itch.io/escape-the-meltdown

The scores get scaled down a lot when you don’t get out in time, you may have been on pace but just got your score nerfed.

This game is adorable! Very nice sprite and sound work! Those spiders can go to hell!

A unique, fun combat system with music and visuals working together to create a very unique, fun atmosphere. Maybe smoking isn't so bad after all?

Did you make the music? It's soooo good! I had no idea what to expect the entire time and was always pleasantly surprised by what I found! Awesome work.

Bro really just dropped a whole ARG on us for a game jam. Actually awesome. Though the boss can be cheesed by going above him and shooting down from off screen, this was a great experience.

It took some fine tuning, glad the time spent paid off!

I hate it. 10/10

Never mind, it's back, guess it doesn't matter either way now!

When I try to load, it says failed to connect to server. Is this just me? Or is the server just down for a moment?

Thanks! I'm very proud of it!

The title alone had me hyped. And when I was faced with those three fire jumps... man oh man was I close to giving up... but then I realized... THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT THE SUN WOULD WANT ME TO DO! So I persevered! I conquered so many three flame jumps they got demoted to two flame jumps! THE DEFINITION OF THREE CHANGED ITSELF FROM THE SHOCK OF MY PASSIONS! THE SUN SHALL LOOK UPON MY WAKE AND TREMBLE!

Hey, I  recognize that water bucket.

If you hold jump and move into a wall, you'll climb up infinitely. I escaped the tower, and got the good ending!

And it was well utilized.

I'm sorry you can't get the trigger to work. Other than that minor hiccup, a perfectly playable little romp!

Oh YES! Love those crunchy 8-bit noises. On top of that, tight controls that make just controlling the character fun. You made a good one here.

Love this! Though I do think you could increase the hitboxes on the movement tiles a bit, unless trying to click on them was supposed to be part of the challenge, in that case it's fine the way it is.

🧊 Gasp* For me?! Thanks! nom*

Glad you liked it! Yeah, for the music, I was insipired by upbeat songs where the lyrics are supposed to be motivating people, think Johnny B Goode.

(And yeah, I love my little ice guy)

💕

It tells me I need to go home to mom. And I'm like "Okay, makes sense", so I try to click the "Okay" button... but nothing happens. Bro I don't think mom is home.

So nice I played it thrice

A very necessary crouch mechanic! Now I can teabag my microwave as it heats up my pizza.

You know, it's not very long, but it was a fun not very long!
