we really put the RUSH in train rush

I love you PantherDev

I was glubbin around, doing my fishly duties, and then noticed some larger fish that I naively thought I would be able to consume and died. Something about that quick of a death really makes you want to get back in and try harder the next time. I was for some reason in awe of the way the fish sprite changed when you rotated from facing left to right- it feels very seamless.

Love the main character art! I'm horrendous with platformers, especially ones with big gaps like this, so I was not able to get as far as I would like but I think this is a pretty solid submission, especially the player assets and the trail effect he has.

Oh my gosh I busted out laughing when I saw the crouch mechanic... He looks up to no good. Part of me wishes the mining had more feedback but the other part of me thinks, with how meme-y everything else is, that the no feedback to just oh no the floor is gone is actually perfect.

I only figured out the "turn into melon" mechanic at the very end but boy oh boy was it a grand finale! Awesome sound design and environment aesthetics!!!!

Awesome game! I love the mayor's closet not just for the joke of finding the mayor literally in a closet but also the little pride flag addition. I also liked the dialogue skip through mechanics. It allowed me to have a lot of control and I truly did miss out if I skipped dialogue so I didn't skip too often.

Very visually appealing however the ship is super hard to control and I'm not quite sure what to do as I fall pretty quickly.

Yay! we're so glad you enjoyed and persevered!!! Thanks for letting us know you enjoyed :)

Glad you felt like you were in suspense!! We weren't fully going for the horror genre initially but kind of ended up there and aren't mad at it.

Yeah! We definitely wish we had some time to implement a little more feedback when it gets to enemy battle time. Thank you so much for your positive feedback on the atmosphere!

Thank you so much for the play! And I'm glad you enjoyed! I apologize for the SFX... did not notice that but can imagine how that can be super aggravating (beyond normal "ahh I took damage!" aggravation lol)

I LOVE GAMES LIKE THIS!!! I enjoy being able to chill while playing games and this accomplished that. The art style is incredible and aids in the ~~relaxing~~ vibes of the game.

Super simple concept that was polished nicely! The sfx gave me a bit of a scare beforehand not gonna lie but other than that things were smooth sailing.

I was hooked as soon as the bird had dialogue... Great text adventure! With awesome graphics! I am definitely not the most seasoned itch.io player but I've never played a game with this setup before on the site so it was super interesting to see.

Love the color palette you guys chose!! Game looks great and it was really nicely on theme!!

Really cool game!!! Looks pretty polished and is definitely something I could see myself spending lots of time on. Great submission

This is a great suggestion! Might incorporate this if we continue development :)

This game is really up my alley.

The attacking feels nice and in control but that doesn't make the game easy which is impressive to accomplish, especially in such a short timeframe.

The one issue I had is the difficulty of the boss which is not necessarily easy to get back to. This made it a bit discouraging for me to continue. Something I was thinking of for my own submission (for further development) was creating some form of upgrade that allows for fast travel in some capacity. I feel like this might be something cool to add to Secrets of the Cursed Mountain as well.

Very fun submission.

The game, although could use some polish as far as aesthetics go, feels very complete for a game jam. There is a lot that I feel like I can explore which is really awesome for a Metroidvania. I like the sound design of the game very much as well.

I really appreciate a good checkpoint system so I thank you for that as well!

This game is super fun to play!

The character controls are pretty good, although I ran into some issues with the animations. The art for the game is really awesome along with the dialogue. Each character feels very fleshed out and whole, and I believe the way that each dialogue is written contributes heavily to this. I love the sound effects in the game although I wish that the attack noise was a bit softer.

Overall this game is a really great submission and I do hope your team continues development!

This game was really really fun to play!

Aesthetically the game is super impressive! The fact that this was a solo dev project is insane! I really enjoyed the fact that I could change out the potion I was using and liked the different animations for each. The scene transitions were also really well done.

If I could make one change to this game I would have loved for the attacks to have been a bit farther away. Because the spells took a quick little second to actually happen, it was quite difficult to get a handle on how to accurately hit the enemies. However, this is a personal statement so I can also see how making the attacks a bit more complicated could be a plus to the gameplay as well.

Great submission!

Very fun game. I really appreciate it when the core gameplay loop of a game is fun and then expanded on. It gives you a lot of time to really hone in on what it is you're doing and it usually shows in the final product.

The one wish I have for this game is I wish I could shoot while in the air. It would have made for some awesome sneak attacks!

Pretty fun submission!

I really liked the particle effects you had upon object interaction, the graphics are really nice (especially the neon,,, love me some neon) and the little details you put in made the game so much better. Because of how expansive the world felt, I was really surprised by the level of detail you were able to implement.

Also, submitting a 3D game to a Metroidvania challenge is a challenge in and of itself which I feel like you did a good job with.

My overall downsides are I wish that the game felt a bit more fun. The game itself is very impressive (and this is what kept me going) but it felt kind of like a chore to do which isn't my style of game.

Super fun game you have here! I know you mentioned that you used pre-bought assets but there is something to be said about being able to put everything together to look nice which you have been successful at!

I also really like the fog of war effect you have added to the game. It makes the vibes of it all so much better and keeps me on my toes a bit more.

Huh, I am definitely very new to pixel art (mainly am a programmer and just picked up some art stuff for the jam) so I actually never really realized this. What a great suggestion!

Since this comment, we also upped the background music volume and added in some more sounds here and there, so I hope this helps with the vibe of the game. We did have a wonderful sound designer, however, we sadly weren't able to implement everything that he gave us before the deadline.

Thanks so much for playing!!

Thank you so much for the positive feedback!!

For the movement controls, some people wanted AWSDE controls, some wanted arrow key controls, so you are free to use both if you please! For UI space saving we only presented one option for the controls when hovering over the potion, but you're free to use the other controls for the game as well

So you are correct that Farm Frogs are the little blue frogs, however, the prefab for them has them spawning in your inventory as builder beetles which is sad since it means you cannot make your last few potions.

Thank you for giving it another shot!!

Also, yes! I totally agree! Having a little sound for the different attacks would add a lot to the game, thank you for that great suggestion!

This was a really rewarding game to play! It makes me feel really good when I figure things out about my character and the area which I feel is what the genre is all about!

The character was a cute lil guy with some pretty awesome animations.

It definitely needs polishing but hey, this is a game jam, and your team did some pretty good work here! I hope you continue to work on this game!!

Really enjoyed playing this submission! The mechanics were super interesting and I feel the difficulty I had controlling the character added to the overall feel of the game.

I really enjoyed the voice-over for the text,, it tends to help me get through text and actually enjoy it so kudos to you for that!

The main issue I had was with the music. The soundtrack was dynamic, fitting for the scenes, and overall really well done, however, I do wish it would loop a bit more cleanly. Also same with some other comments I feel it's not quite Metroidvania, but it sure is a lot of fun!

Great overall submission!

Definitely good feedback, and sorry about the bugs! We might playtest a bunch more and make some of these changes with the extra time. Thanks for giving it a play!

So sorry about these bugs! We tried our best to playtest it all but alas... We may go back in and re-submit now that we have an extra few days.

Glad you made it to the end :) It is so good to hear that people are enjoying this!

Thanks so much!!

Such a cute game with really great polish!! Love the sound design as well, especially the melee noise!! Great work!

Very fun gameplay!! It feels kind of like if minesweeper was updated which is really cool!!!

thank you so much! side note your pfp is amazing

Cute little gameplay! It's really nice to see projects like this that are really simple ideas made very fun!! It's easy to design a "fun" game when you have all of the scope in the world, not so much the other way around. Great job!!!

Thank you so much! I was personally a big fan of your submission for the goofs, so I am glad you enjoyed our game as well. If we go into further development, we would definitely add in some more features. For now, you can try out the "hard" mode which you can switch to in the pause menu for a quicker gameplay :)

Yes, we can understand how that's an issue. We tried to kind of goof on that with the belligerent narrator, but could also be nice to (after a while) have a button that's just like "screw this I don't like rules" or something to bypass it all.
