You're not the first person to mention the unavoidable fire imp attack! To be honest, I put it there deliberately because I'm a horrible person who likes giving out nasty surprises ;-) If anyone finds their way into the secret tunnels, there's a *really* nasty (but very avoidable) surprise lurking.

Re arrow keys moving the scroll bar, that's not good and I'll try to disable that in future. The fullscreen button in Itch is problematic as dynamically resizing, once the colour mode is selected, would require major internal modifications. Probably something I'll address if I write another JS game from scratch in future.

My apologies, I solved it! I just had to be in a very specific place to select the crystal.

Beautiful game with great cut scenes and textual content, plus engaging audio. Good work!

Sadly I'm not very good at point-and-click adventures and I wasn't able to solve the first puzzle. If there's something obvious I'm missing, please let me know, thanks. Solved it, I just need to be in the exact right location to select the object in my inventory!

This is a quality game: nice graphics and sound, clever concept and gameplay,  plus good interpretation of the theme. Difficulty is gently rampled, which is always helpful. Great work!

For anyone wanting to play this full screen: the game file ("Thanes-Pursuit.html" available on github ) will launch at any window size, including fullscreen. However, it won't resize once the colour mode is selected, so switching out of fullscreen means refreshing the page (and restarting the game). For this reaon I disabled the fullscreen button in itch.io. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Good graphics and game theme, the voice acting is a nice touch! Collision detection for interaction is a little tricky, but it works and the game is definitely playable. I didn't quite make it into the Cool Fella's Club, but isn't that just the story of my life?! :-)

Nice game! The 'frogger' section plays well. Ski section looks great but is rather slow... I could have gone off and made a cup of tea at certain points :-) Is there a 'sprint' button?

This is a very nice game, produced to a professional standard. The graphics are attractive, the animation is smooth and the audio creates a suitable atmosphere. I like that there are mutliple route options to explore, rather than a linear game. I found it challenging, but that is not a bad thing!

I like simple puzzle gams and this is nicely done. The graphics are minimalist, which I like, and the audio is pleseant. Not sure if I reached the end of the game; I had a dialogue the prisoner, but was stuck on that level with nothing to do, perhaps I'm missing something?

This is a high quality submission, from both a design and technical point of view. I've played some Godot games recently that have toasted my modest CPU/GPU, yet it handles these gorgeous graphics without breaking a sweat. Clearly you know what you're doing with those shaders. 

I'm not great a this type of game, but I did get the first level of each colour, and had a lot of fun doing so. My only niggle, as others have mentioned, is the sensitivity of the rotation key controls. Also, as the corridors are all up/down or left/right, perhaps there is some way of getting orientation to lock at, or to gravitate towards, 0/90/180/270 degrees?

Anyway, that's just small stuff though. Great work!

Congratulations on producing such an obtusely challenging puzzle game! Nice retro graphics and sound, too.

To other players:

I managed to complete level 1. The object appears to be to get the red shape to drop through the hole. I apologise for putting a spoiler here, but I really think it will help people get going, given the previous comments: D (left) -> X (down/left) -> D (left).

It might be helpful to press "Y", as this turns on some kind of debug/help mode.

Nicely made game. I only made it to level three, but I felt a real sense of achievement figuring out level two :-) As others have mentioned the handling is a little tricky, but I guess that contributes to the challenge!

Hi, just tried playing this and I like it very much, but I need some advice! I've completed the first (blue) level several times over, but I didn't find any crystals, and the end-of-level screen just launches me back into the same blue level. Perhaps there is something really obvious that I'm missing?

Nice game, great use of limited colour palette! The 'fog', which can be removed by the 'sweep' feature, is good as it makes the gameplay more interesing and adds challenge.

Also, I love the cartoon character graphics between levels... one of the vampires reminds me of Michael Jackson! :-)

Re getting into the enemy castle, I'll leave some tips here for anyone reading this:

> Talk to the old man who lives in the tree, he knows the secret entrance!

> The in-game level map (Escape, then option 1) shows only ladders and solid tiles, so fake walls/floors are visible as tiny gaps.

> Cheat code HHCAAQSS (Option 3 from the intro menu, then enter the code) will start you inside the enemy castle with a fine set of powerups!

The concept is excellent: a sentient walking car, living a secret life, trying to pass as a normal car! Game difficulty is set at a good level: not too easy but quite doable, and the tutorial advice tells you everything you need to know. Graphics and audio are nice, the cute style fits with the concept well. The car feels almost like it's floating, like it's not solidly connected to the ground, but I'm guessing this is part of the retro 3D aesthetic. A fun and enoyable game!

Great idea for a puzzle game, nicely executed with very professional graphic design! It seems simple but is quite challenging, I got two in row but also a lot of failures.... lucky that I choose software engineering instead of the life sciences! :-) Nice work.

Slick and enjoyable platformer with innovative mechanics! Didn't manage every ending, but still had fun.

Nice puzzle game, simple  but effective. The ability to purchase 'cheat' moves is both a fun mechanic and also greatly increases puzzle complexity. Pastel colour palette is a nice touch, and the audio is very soothing. My only complaint, and this is probably an issue with Godot more than your code, is that my modest laptop (with integrated GPU) was running flat out to render this game, so I had to stop playing because my thighs are buring, even though I was having fun! :-) Regardless of that, great work!

I felt a fuzzy warm glow playing this game. Was it the radiation coming from the imginary CRT monitor? No, it's because as a Linux user this command line interface makes me feel right a home! To be honest, I wasn't able to invest enough time to get into the puzzles, but I very much enjoyed the visuals and exploring the mini command language you've created; it's so succint and clearly explained that it actually puts real command line systems to shame. The only minor wishlist item would be shortcuts for commands, e.g. just type 'h' to help, "_h" for advanced help, or 'l' for list, etc. But that's just piddling stuff. Great  work!

The janky jumping is all down to me, sorry (it's not a Gen X thing in general :-) ). That bit of code came from my previous game where jumping was supposed to be tricky.

Really good graphics, audio and atmosphere, the aliens are genuinely scary. Sadly I didn't last long after the first alien encounter, but it was fun trying to shoot them all. Good work!

This little game is FUN and I love the graphic style. I like the way you turned the door bug into a game feature :-)

This game looks really nice, could be the start of a great project! Adding some story, and more detailed written instructions, to the game's Itch page might more people more engage with the game.

Interesting project! Like you say it's a draft rather than a finished game, but it's still fun to wander around and see what's going on, and how things change every 50 years. The graphics are nice and the music is jaunty.

Nice game with fun graphics, although quite tough. Would be a great start for a larger dungeon adventure.
