Thank you for this game! I like that it's bite-sized and encourages you to play through it multiple times to see what result will different options have!

It feels very polished and graphically it is a feast for the eyes! Only complaint that I can think of is that in one of the endings, when you have different options what to do with "gift" that Hal left you, it doesn't matter which option do you choose, you just get credits immediately 馃槄.

Other than that, it's fantastic little narrative experience!

This game is fantastic! Love the atmosphere, so dark, gloomy, depressing. Different choices that you can make add depth and feel significant. Monsters and spirits are genuinely creepy and unsettling. Totally worth giving it a couple of playthroughs!

You should definitely be proud, as this project is extremely impressive!

Thanks for explaining this to me! I'm intrigued that there is alternative ending if you get 0%. Sound like fun challenge too, I will definitely be trying this!

Thanks for sharing next project that you are working on! It sound just right up my alley, I have wishlisted it on Steam and will be patiently waiting for updates 馃榿

Very nice game! I like that you only have limited time to explore areas to gather anything that will help you survive the night. I would love to see more weapon/equipment types and more enemy types for even better experience!

Are you planning to make this prototype into full game?

I've just finished your game in digital format and I must say that I'm impressed! Decided to buy full version just after finishing demo and definitely was not disappointed!

Game world is perfectly executed - it is atmospheric and mysterious, yet hostile and dangerous. It really gives you the vibe of being on some unfamiliar celestial body with no friendly face in sight. Story is very well written and given in right amounts - not too much, not too little, just enough to motivate player to explore further. First game that you will compare 2021 Moon Escape to is obviously Link's Awakening, but it absolutely isn't a clone in any sense. It's the sense of mystery and fun of exploration that those two games share, but 2021 Moon Escape has its own Identity and brings a lot of fresh ideas - interesting puzzle sections and immersive menu screen among others.

One thing I didn't like is that if you open menu and close it, all enemies on given screen respawn. I understand that its like that by design, but I was irritated a few times when I defeated all enemies in the room and opened menu to check something quickly only to realize that I have to fight them again. But I would say it's tiny inconvenience.

To sum up, this is very solid experience that left me thirsty for more! I hope you plan to do some follow-up in closer or further future 馃槃.

P.S. I got 100% of items and was given a choice to fight final boss or back off. I checked both paths and it seems that it doesn't affect scene after credits. Is that supposed to be that way?

It would be great to have dungeons maps as extra download! I think those arrows aren't a big issue, just wanted to point this out. In general, I find dungeon layout very nice. Not trivial, but also not overcomplicated, which makes them very fun and rewarding to explore.

Yeah, this infinite loop bug seems pretty odd. Maybe I will give it another go tomorrow, on another fresh save and note what exactly I'm doing, so it will be easier for you to reproduce. As always, happy to help! :3

Do you happen to have some discord server or smth like that? It would be probably more convenient to share bug reports and feedback there 馃槄

Oh, I just noticed that you edited answer 馃槄

Yes, I assumed that it might be because of save state, so I started fresh and got the same result, unfortunately. Best of luck with debugging, please let me know if I can be of any help! 馃槉

That also happens when I start fresh safe file, go to dungeons, beat the boss, grab the egg, the skeleton doll, a whole bunch of artifacts from chests and exit dungeons and go to parlor. First, I give Bale an egg, then dialog is looped.

Other things that I noticed:

  • When I go to save crystal room in dungeon, selecting "Not now" has same effect as with selecting Inn before fix - it proceeds to save anyway
  • Sometimes navigation arrow doesn't point to room that I had come from. See screenshots - on first I'm in save crystal room and arrow points to the north - but I could only come from south since this is a dead end. When I go south, arrow still points north, but if I want to return to save crystal room I must go south again 馃槄
  • When trying to open chest, occasionally it opens after just 2 inputs when 3 are needed according to the bar displayed on the top of the screen

I have tested it once again, on new version, using my previous save state. Bale gives me Apprentice Robes now, but after that whole dialog with them is looped endlessly 馃槄

Yay! 馃槉

I'm happy to help, will try out new update this afternoon and let you know!

Yes, after first trip to dungeons I have turned in some artifacts. AFAIR I got similar conversation then.

Sure thing! Fortunately I have save state before this happens, so I am able to replicate that 馃榿. See screenshots for whole conversation that happens before. I can also share save state itself if it will be of any help to you

Also, don't worry about those bugs, I'm a programmer myself (in a bit different field though - webdev) and I know the struggle perfectly well 馃槀. There is ALWAYS something that you miss during testing, that's just the way things are 馃槄

Wow, that was quick! I'm happy to help 馃槉.

Please let me know when the other issue is fixed, I will gladly try it again!

I have found one more thing, super minor - if you select "Inn" option but then you want to back out by selecting "Not now", you are transported to the inn anyway 馃槃.

Amazing, thank you!

One more thing, after second trip to dungeons and defeating first boss, when I go to the parlor, and talk with fire-y guy there, game is just stuck on this screen and nothing happens no matter the input 馃槄

Congrats on the release! Excited to try this as a full experience :3.

I got "kernel panic" screen when going east in the location on attached screen. Emulator is Gambatte, I was playing on RetroArch on Android. Just wanted to let you know 馃槄

Thank you, thanks awesome! Can't wait for the full release :3

This demo looks very promising, looking forward for further updates! Love the art style and gameplay mechanics!

I might have found a bug during my play through - when I reach the first boss and defeat it, I can't go any further, because boss prompt is repeated and I have to fight it again or back off.

Thank you for this game! It was very fun to play and art was beautiful. It's so nice to see and support trans retro games creators :3. Hope to see more content from you!
