Hey thanks so much for trying my music!! I'll try to get something out for you in the next few days :D
Is there a time frame that you'd like the music by?
also if you'd like, you can message me on discord ( jhawk2341 ), and I can send you what I'm working on so we tweak it to get something that really fits your project!
Stunning game both visually and audibly! Really really impressive for the time constraint :D
Like a couple others mentioned, it would be nice to be able to restart from the keyboard (probably the space bar to match the start)
I would also really like to see some sort of combo, or at least making your punches cancel the enemy attack (could even be a weak and strong attack system where strong attacks cancel enemy ones but weak jabs don't), I think that would add a lot of depth to the game.
Another way to add a bit of depth could be to replace the 3 heart system with a heath bar to match the enemy's, which enables you to make each attack from the enemy have different weights to them, for example a leg sweep wouldn't hurt as much as a ground slam, so it would feel more rewarding to the player if they block a big hit and avoid taking a lot of damage.
There are really endless directions you can take this game! It's a really good base to build a larger project around! I look forward to seeing where you take this :)
Just played the web version! Cool idea for movement, very original.
Unfortunately I only have a trackpad so it was VERY difficult haha, but I appreciate the new take on controls :)
If you plan on updating post jam, I'd suggest making the circles that you draw move the ball MORE to ease up on the hand pain lol.
It was quite fun to build up speed when going downhill then hitting a jump. Good stuff!
Fun! Love the speed you can get to with the slopes :D
It was a bit frustrating after getting past a difficult section to fall into a hole and have to restart the level, so maybe it would benefit from a simple checkpoint system? I feel like that would elevate the gameplay a bit and encourage the player to use the fast paced movement to it's fullest.
Good work!
A nice little platformer! Some good stuff on display :)
Some tips to help you in future projects-
For the timer, try rounding it to only 2 or maybe three places behind the decimal, it helps to keep game looking a bit cleaner, and also makes it more readable!
And for the artwork, I'd really recommend either trying to make all the assets yourself (which is a lot of work, I know) or, if you're using asset packs, try to use art all from one pack, or at least from packs with the same visual style. The consistency will wrap up the whole game nicely!
Anyway nice work! keep going :D
I don't usually play download only games, but this one caught my eye. First off, beautiful artwork! Looks brilliant :D
The concept is very funny as well, those pesky barcodes never scan as they should. I think the main thing the game is lacking is progression, it got pretty repetitive after a while and I wouldve liked to see something a bit extra to spice up the gameplay like maybe some sort of interaction with the customer such as them asking for a price check or something, or maybe there's a sticker covering the barcode so you have to scratch it off. There are a lot of directions you could take this!
Obviously there are a couple bugs, and the physics is a bit all over the place but I think there's a lot of potential here.
Good stuff :)
A really nice start! You could definitely build a bigger game off of this! it would be nice to be able to swing up/down too, but I know that's a lot of artwork that needs to be done, which, by the way looks great! I love the reflection of the player off the shiny floor.
An exciting project! good stuff :)
Interesting idea! Some nice music as well :)
I did manage to clip through the floor on the last room when the elevator block came all the way down, it just pushed me straight through, but It's a pretty interesting concept for a game! It was a unique challenge navigating rooms that you can only sorta figure out just where the exit is.
I think the jump was a little bit floaty, but other than that it was pretty well executed well done!
Really nice and juicy! It took me a while to fully understand how the flow worked, and even when I figured it out it was still pretty difficult, but when I was able to execute the jumps it felt really good! I love the ability to slide on any surface and building momentum was super fun. I wasn't able to beat the last level as I took far too long on the second to last, but all the earlier levels were good fun to optimize!
Very solid stuff!
I don't think the difficulty is actually an issue in terms of the mechanics, I really liked each individual challenge/room. What I think DOES make it so challenging is the pacing. A lot of the time it's one really hard segment after another so there's no time to feel the sense of accomplishment or plan the next move. And again, I really enjoyed each individual part of the levels, I just think there needs to be a bit more leniency with the difficulty curve/spikes.
The force field mechanic is a pretty cool one, it adds a surprising amount of depth from such a simple mechanic. You also have a very nice variety in obstacles which is great too.
This has a lot of potential! good stuff :)
A nice challenge! Especially good for a first jam! Great art and a cool concept
I was only able to beat the first level, for some reason (probably because my computer isn't very strong), It started laggin quite a lot after that, but the parts I did play were fun! I liked being able to go mach 5 as a dashing rat. My one little critique would be, in the tutorial area I dont think you needed to add the text saying the goop on the floor slows you down. The game already does a good job explaining that to the player without text, so let your game do the talking!
Good stuff!
Really neat! I love how you can in theory play through the whole game without ever slowing down time which could make for some crazy speedruns! I played through it twice and found myself improving at the game which was a great feeling. Also love the take on the theme, really clever for a speedrun game to be about slowing things down. Also it looks and sounds great. I think the movement could use some slight tweaking, but that's being nitpicky. Really good stuff :D
Wow we had pretty similar takes on the theme/controls! I like the fluidity of the movement.
I think the main critique that I'd have is I feel like you could get more out of the movement by having the levels be a bit more open and the camera zoomed out a bit, because the controls feel really nice when you're moving at high speeds and dodging the enemies but the levels almost feel a bit too cramped so you can't quite keep the flow of the movement going
I also really like the music, and the animation of the submarine was cool as well.
That was fun! I did a full play through, and my time was 850-ish which I'll take (I am NOT a speedrunner lol)
good stuff :)
