Bingo! My main inspiration was the music from Earthbound

Thank you very much for your kind words! The music was inspired by Earthbound, and my teammates did a wonderful job, I love the artwork and the execution of the game mechanics as well!

Thanks for your insight man! Your opinion is always appreciated!

Hey everyone!

My name is Jan and I make music for games. I have already gained some experience through gmae jams and projects with friends.

Here are some links to my music:

I'm best at writing music for RPGs and platformers, but I'm very versatile and can write in many different genres. I also make Youtube videos about game music:

Thanks a lot, I'm glad you like the music and SFX. My teammates did a terrifc job, I'm glad to have worked with them!

MacOS version runs fine now, thank you. Also love the new enemy health bars!

The game works perfectly now! Thank you!

A bit of a loose take on the theme, but I'll let it pass because I really enjoyed it. Feels very polished, art and animations are top notch!

Awesome presentation, very original concept! This feels extremly polished, I can't believe you managed to develop this in 48 hours.  I love the Metroid-vania aspects of the game, how you gain different abilities to progress. Also the interplay between the two characters, it felt very intuitive to navigate through the world. Also props for the tutorial area, this is how you introduce your mechanics to the player.

My only gripes are with the controls; sometimes they feel a little unresponsive while high-jump platforming. And the enemies take an eternity to kill, haha.

Everything else is awesome, the art, the animation, the general feel of the game. This could almost be on Steam as it is. I hope you develop this further, this is one of the best I've played so far for this jam!

Cool presentation, I liked the art and music, and how "biological" everything is and I dig the main mechanic. I was just a little overwhelmed by the amount of enemies, but otherwise cool concept!

Love the dynamic music and the puzzle mechanics!

That's great to hear, thank you very much! I'm looking forward to it. All the best for the jam!

Super clever little puzzler

Hey, just wanted to let you know. I loved the game on PC and would like to play it on MacOS as well. Will there be future updates after the jam?

Aww hey, thanks for playing our game too! My teammates really hit the ball out of the park with this one. I'm proud to have worked with them!

5 stars in every category. This one is just beyond amazing. Props to you all!

People like you scare me. I only managed to write a few tunes in 48 hours while you come along and submit a whole super-polished, well designed game. And it's not even something pretentious, but a super cute game about little ducks. Awesome, I hope you get a spot in Marks' video for 2021!

Side note: Thank you for mentioning software you used, I didn't know about Bfxr for exampe, going to try it out!

You really ran with the theme here. Very cool game mechanic, and I like the presentation too

Very creative take on the theme

This game is amazing! It took me a while to understand what's going on, but after that I had a blast. The game play loop is so engaging, and even if you lose, you just want to try again with different strategies. I like how you have to make choices: Do I buy a new wagon, or an upgrade? Should I sell this one? Amazing game. And to top it all off, it is really polished. I didn't encounter any bugs, the art and particle effects are nice, and the music and SFX fit perfectly. 5 stars in every category.

Absolutely stunning visuals, I love the artwork and the parallax. Also the beautiful piano music really enhances the experience. The game play is very calming, I can see myself playing something like this after a rough day. Top marks.

Thank you so much, this means a lot to me

This was actually kinda fun. I liked the vision cone mechanic, and its a fun idea to have the dog bite you. It even wags its little tail.

I absolutely loved the music in this one, it's so well composed! The level and overall game design is awesome too, one of the best games I played so far for GMTK 2021. I really dig the main mechanic. Also props for the wordless tutorial. I couldn't stop playing until I was finished. Top marks!

I loved the "walking" animation! This was surprisingly fun and engaging. I needed some time before I got the hang of the shooting mechanic, but after that I had a blast. It only gets a bit boring by the end when only like 3 enemies are left and all you do is seek them. Unfortunately the game doesn't look pretty. But I still enjoyed it, props to you!

The presentation is awesome. The gameplay itself is unfortunately very overwhelming, the camera is way too sensitive and there are too many enemies at once. On my computer, the game was also unfortunately very laggy. But I think this has potential.

The game is really great! I like the customization aspect that you have by combining the ship halves. Gameplay is also fun. Unfortunately, the right click attack did not work for me. One of the better games I have played so far for the jam.

That "Yaaaayy" was Tobi's idea! I tried to make it sound as miserable as possible lol

Yes, the main music in the game is pretty much "north american" bossa nova. For the menu music, I had more of a general muzak vibe in mind. I'm glad you like it!

Hi I'm Jan!

I make music for video games. With the GMTK Game Jam coming up, I would love to work on a game with you guys.

Any genre really, I always try to be versed in any style and practice a lot for that.

But I'm best at composing music for adventure or fantasy games, I would say! RPGs, platformers, horror, generally anything where a lot of atmosphere is needed.

Hey! My name is Jan.

I can compose in almost any style imaginable because I'm a big music theory nerd. Orchestral, electronic, rock music, swing, doesn't matter, I'm your guy. If I don't know how to compose in a certain style, I know how to get the necessary knowledge quickly.

GMTK Game Jam is coming up and would love to collaborate. But of course I'm interested in working on all kinds of projects.

I like pixel art, adventure games, platformers and Metroid-vanias to name a few.
