Great game to play with you partner if it wasnt because I really dislike the sheep AI. The barks probably make part of the problem (?). I think I would like to control that.
Also some absolute suicidal sheeps choose to go straight through a dog just to go to the water, wich is preety dumb ngl.
Outside of that, great idea and decent execution.
I ran this game again, and I have some more stuff I would like to comment about the updated system:
- 1st: The spell list gave me (the dm) a thermonuclear headache trying to balance the 2 spells my players created, so I gave up and just allowed them bc if they are broken I can just tax them.
- 2nd: The players that didnt attempt to make their own spells also felt somewhat overwhelmed by choice with the spell list. Since I only run oneshots and dont go for a session 0, we spent too much time on that (like 1 hour) and when we finally played we only got like one scene done and we had to call it a day.
- 3rd: The crib economy on the current version is broken as fuck. It is very hard to lose money with it and one of my players attempted to just go back to the crib a bunch of times and farm money (of course I didnt let him do that unless he finished some kind of mission).
- 4th: For some reason we couldnt filter in the spell list, but thats probably a google docs problem.
- 5th: We had some trouble tring to figure out if the stats and the skills where separate things or not, and if skills had to be rolled separate. We just went with the raw skills.
- 6th: I didnt use height advantage or cover, but I used the grid for my session, it went well. Also I dont like D&D's initiative thingie, so I ignored that.
Next time I might just show my players like 2 spells of each color and tell them to figure out new spells or use those. Also, I want to try making them choose what spells they have when they need them, so if they need to cast fist and havent picked one of the spells they can get they can just pick fist and cast it.
By far.
Also, I already did a fangame about this ttrpg. Go check it out: https://ellimitador.itch.io/swmd-roguelike
The red arrows for changing rooms lack better feedback. The rune system is actually preety fun, but I would like to be able to check them in some sort of menu while investigating.
Also, please dont make the real answer to this riddle boring, like she killed herself and thats that. But make it another option for your "opponent" to try to trick you if you can. That would be preety cool.
Loved the game. Great art style and banger music.
