Thank you, this clarified a lot.

Things that was not clear for me and my friends:

1. The division between a group action(hidden dice) and individual action(Ante)

2. How many Ante can anyone make in one round? To be clear, I can just storm you with arguments in a matter of seconds. Will it be 1 ante or several? Not clear

3. There's no "Skip to step 5" option in the book. "Players can double down or fold". Not clear for people who don't have an experience in poker

4. Can monsters double down? What's stopping them? They never lose anything. So they shouldn't be able to. Not clear from rules

5. Why fold as a monster? If they fold - they lose 100% of the time. If they don't - they have a chance. Maybe if they don't want to fight because they're afraid, or if the player offer something so valuable, the monster will do anything to get it. But it's not supported mechanically

I don't know if you already solved this in any other of your work, but the way it works in Azag now doesn't seem to be a perfect solution in Game Theory sense.

But I love how this involves all players into a social situation, it's inspiring idea. And it creates a room for interesting social Talents.

And thanks for the answer, heartwarming

Hello

I don't understand how social encounters work.

Can you give me explained step-by-step example?

A troll guarding the bridge. 4 players want to convince him to let them pass. How would you run it?

Hello
I translated this game to russian, can I post it on my account? I kept credits to your social media, didn't add mine and I'll credit you on the page.

Either way, I didn't try this system yet but feels like it should be very fun!

Edit: We played it. It was fun! Everyone liked it, but we played for 3 hours and it feels too long so 1-2 hours would be perfect.

Also, if you will be DM, be sure to present problems that every player can be involved in. For example, to cross a pit everyone should do something. But to deal with one guy one player can deal with him while others just stand there and it may be boring if done too many times.

So I'll post the translation anyway.

I remade your game in bash (there's not a lot of levels, but they're comming)

https://github.com/descentcare/wormaze

the best thing you got there is experience, just don't stop making games for jams and yourself

You got the mechanics, next time you'll make a good story

Nice game! Feels like a lot of effort was put in the art. Logic could be better, but it will be with good practice

If there will be feedback when I hold mouse on the enemy and when he damages me, it could be better. Also some better AI. And other things. It doesn't feel like limitations was implemented at all.

The game looks and sounds good, everything gives feedback as sfx and controls is comfy

but the limitation doesn't feel like it's there. Every run is the same. Coins doesn't disappear and don't influence on anything. There's no difficulty scale.

Given that it's a late submission, you could do better. And you can, just make it in time and put more effort, you can do anything

Great game! The glitches, the atari zelda style and concept, good puzzle, atmospheric music and stuff

also easy and simple control scheme is not as common as you would expect.

Oh, man, you just stepped into the world of double meaning.

But seriously, I only seen two versions(John and Raccoon, and I can't decide who broke it)

Thx! The art was made by 0x72, there's link to his work on the game's page. But thx for noticing weapon animation! I was kinda amazed how easy it was to make.

Timer will make a game more tense and, as you said, the game should be playable for non pros(like we are xD), and the last level is kinda big, so I can't pass it first time every playthrough, feels like pure luck.

Beat the game 3 times, I like it.

There's work to do to make this puzzle work without reading the comments. For example, a little tutorial level where you can open the chest with energy walk and a portal to another level. Random abilities will work if there's a restart button, bit it feels like you got one if you played it one time.

Also a level is too big and empty for this slow movement, so it needs balance.

But overall it's great! I'd replay it with more levels and variety. Keep it up!

Yeah, that's why you should playtest on different people each time. But time is low, and what is jam but a playtest, right?)

Looks and sounds great! With change of level after death it seems like I made progress(but it isn't so I didn't beat the game)
And movement is a little bit too fast for me

Good game overall

Didn't beat it, hard platformers is hard for me. But the game looks good and limitation is done well. I like it

This is great! Feels like a lot of effort put into it. I played it like 5 times. If you learn the patterns - it becomes pretty easy. If you make a character slower, it would feel much better. I don't think non euclidean works like it, but I like this type of games so it's a good attempt. One of my favorites in this jam

That's a lot of work in visuals and music, it's nice

but I couldn't get any coins and after killing the boss and clearing everything - there was no end and no way to die.

also doors lead to the wrong places sometimes. Confusing

But with this fixes, I think it will be a great game!

seriously, who broke it? WHO BROKE IT? Guess we'll never know since your laptop is broken and we will not see the game ending.

I like "Papers please" so I like this. Will play it again after that comment, definitely one of the best from limitations perspective

Nice problem, I'm gona brute force it now

Well, it's nice principle, but then I'd want to play a more polished version.

Do you just spam it to get votes?

Literaly pick a mage with 1 int and 9 speed, clear all the room from furniture and enemies, comeback as melee and die. 9/10 for mechanics, art and music(atmosphere is a BOMB), but there's nowhere to go, no end and stuff.
Would like to see parry for melee, it will be playable at least.
And some base values for hp and speed, I maxed int at first and couldn't move
And a way to return to main menu so I can change my character

Nice game! I found a bug.

You can click endlessly on the card you already taken(card draws to the right from the player)

you can have infinite ammo, armor and health but also clicking on that will pass the level.

Thx! I used this algorithm, not the first time I use it.

Nice game! In turn based games like this you can make good AI relatively easy with Breadth-first search, so you can make enemies that is going for your player, so it can be more interesting game

Well, it's not in code. It's below all components in text object, the atlas settings

You shouldn't. In Unity if you use TMPro, you can bump up outline so any text anywhere will be readable, google it up

(1 edit)

I love that you made level choice as part of gameplay. Would like to see outline on your text, I don't see my speed when I'm playing white levels

Also a time that I spend on each level

The game sounds and looks nice, but it's too easy. Whould like to replay it if there will be some challenge

You can use Bosca Ceoil for some simple music, it's easy to add more atmosphere to your game with it)
Bfxr for sfx is nice addition too

Buttons are closing most of the view so it's hard to play, but combining animals with python Pillow is a nice idea. I'd replay that if polished

Also I checked the source code - it's ok to play it)

(1 edit)

It seems like only I and few others can play it.
You have to download every file, put it in one directory, setup python 3.6 and install pygame through pip, then execute main.py from that folder(type "python main.py" in cmd in that folder and press enter), so it's difficult for people not familiar with python.

But there's a solution. You(developer) can make executable file from python script(google how to do it), there's an example in this jam, I'll link it there https://itch.io/jam/mini-jam-105-dreamy/rate/1511798
Contact him and ask how he did it, maybe cooperate on the next jam

About the game, It's ok as a first submission and I like pygame games, but it's harder to do a semi-big game compared to unity.

You have to have installed python3.6 and pygame and know how to execute python code, so that's a problem

You are slowed down when you're attacking. Tho you can click once a second or so when it's checked to finish the animations, but it requires skill.

Can you repeat that bug? Characters only vary in animations and sprites, so it shouldn't influence collisions or movement

It's this one and one or two others. Other games is ok for Brave

no, it's not about bluetooth keyboard, it's my keyboard that's broken. Just add A and D with arrows
