Great script.  Just modified it to do 4k (128x128) so I can use it for retro puzzle maker.  At least, it acknowledges it as a valid chr file, so if I haven't done it completely, I'm close to pulling it off!

Ah okay, took your initial "it was a game" more hateful than you intended the other day.

But yes, it was one of those things of "release crap or release nothing at all," as time went on I became quite aware of my weaknesses during the jam period.  Most notably, that for all my yapping I don't know a damn thing about RPGMaker and I have to start over from zero.  Others have given me comprehensive feedback as well.

Most important thing is I learned a lot.  Like the need to actually plan out a game, the need to limit myself in scope, and to actually practice more rather than assuming my current knowledge is good enough.

Also, sorry about the sound, I didn't know the volume reduction wasn't a fix all solution.

Also, yes, Davina is now my new Mary Sue.

Yeah I was consciously creating Davina with that in mind.

I realized halfway through yesterday that I don't know a damn thing about rpgmaker and I'm basically starting from zero (just like Michael Kaiser), so your feedback is well appreciated and recieved.

For what it's worth, I knew I messed up on the plot thing, that's why I put it on the game's page itself, which is still shoddy of me but if you were curious about any context.

Yeah, I was really crunched and left out the blurb that I left on the project page instead.

Can't get much more lit than this, wish it were easier to make a shooter with rpgmaker

Very nice.  Obligatory Tournament Arcs are truly obligatory.  5/5

Great little game.  Only got to the second level but I'm sure it's good all in all.

A little tip for others: in many cases you can just jump over the enemies so you can slide back and swing on em that way.

Paypal payment fails to go through

Finally got a chance to try it!  Good work, rich narrative, very detailed :) I'm sure it will do well.

Ah, so she's Hilda then, cool

Awesome, just seeing if I can save some steps in the process

I do have Pico-8 properly, but would it be alright to use the educational version for this?

Just bought this on the Switch, sight unseen because if nothing else I want to support this way of retro development.  Saw it there first and thought it was interesting, then I saw it in Retro Gamer magazine and knew it was a must buy.

Thanks.  Yeah the purpose was to show that the barest pretense of a game could be made with very little knowledge.  And I was having issues with the 'proper' collision so I modified it to be janky but still functional.  With another hour I could have put in sound and indication of win/lose conditions.

Is that green robed character a part of the asset pack?

I can't actually play yours since I don't have a windows computer, so I rated off of your screenshots

I won't say not to, but it's kind of a downgrade from Godot and Unreal, even if it is perfect for my own purposes.

Thank you for the kind words, but that's the beauty of rpgmaker...it only took me a few hours to do that.  And I could do much better if I actually put in plugins and asset packs and whatnot.  But I am surprised at how much I can do with just the barest basics.

Yeah I'd never do that in a "real" game but here, the annoyance was part of the point. :)

Can only play browser games but just off the screenshots it looks super!

The whole thing was sort of an initiation rite.

Great stuff, man.  Had me quite engaged.

Actually, I did fail, by leaving one behind at the second house.

Welp, it was a hard choice but now I'm gonna split down the proverbial middle and use Rpg In A Box.

First things first...deciding between Pico-8 and RPGMaker.  I can get more done more easily with the latter, but Pico-8 will allow me more control in the long run, but with a far steeper climb.

An amazing and unique design.

Purchased.  I'm sure I'll find a good use!

Just for flavor really.  But if I actually tried they could serve as 'hints.'

Just got it.  Not sure whether I'll do anything with it or not but it looks fun anyway.

He was the one who caught me right in the mood to take his joking suggestion seriously.   It was another who suggested making it 256x256.

You're absolutely right.  I call this 'unintentional horror.'  I'm thinking of ways to polish it after the jam.  One idea is that I could change the walls so that it actually looks like the Backrooms, lol.  Originally I did intend for there to be an item that would teleport you directly to Harold, but that was slightly beyond my paygrade.

But as for why I forgot to make it a good game, it's because I made this on a bloody minded whim, with a very limited time frame.

Awesome.  I'll probably buy this tomorrow then!

I'm getting this as soon as money permits.  I need that witch in my life. :D

So, are these compatible with normal default rpgmaker tiles or how much of the other stuff will I need?  I'd buy the bundle if I could afford it but I plan to buy everything eventually.

Yeah.  There's plenty of room to expand on and refactor it into a proper game at some point if I wanted.

Yeah, it'd be perfect if I could do front view, but the enemies are clearly side view skewed, so it limits me as to which characters to use.

Bad art is better than boring art.  When I try to be 'serious' it just doesn't work out lol.

Thanks for your review.  As for yours, I don't have windows so I can't play but the screenshots are enough to show how solid your effort is.  I've actually wanted to make a game with Omega Modern as well.
