The Mario DS minigames were exactly the inspiration!! :D I was playing them recently, great party games if you have multiple DS's! Wanted to include multiple minigames but had to reduce the scope so chose to only do the best one!! :3

hii, as a long time jammer, I can maybe probably hopefully give good-ish advice?! ✨
- Keep the scope small 🤏
Game jams are hard, expect everything to take waaay longer than you'd expect. It's usually recommended to start with a small idea and then build on top of it rather than starting with an overwhelming big idea, but they are also valid!
- Try new things, Experiment & Learn! 🧪
Game jams are perfect for doing new things you've always wanted to try! Even if things don't work out, it's still experience and you will get something out of it!
- Don't be afraid to share! 🙌
Don't give up! You don't need a "perfect polished game", even if something barely works, still submit it! Putting something out there and getting feedback is super valuable! Everyone starts somewhere!
- Have fun!!! 🎉[Most Important]
Just a reminder that these are done in your own time because it's something you want to do! if you are feeling negatively in any way, you are under no obligation to continue, remember to look after your mental & physical health 🧡
Cool game! Got lost in level 2, found the secret area but not where I was meant to go, oops! I think focusing on polish than content would be nice, especially for game jams, but the level design is nice! (even if some sections are unclear). I personally don't like the lives mechanic, just makes it a bit frustrating especially since they are shared between levels. I experienced a bug where reading sign whilst moving doesn't stop your, making you walk off the edge and lose all your lives (oops again) I really like the level select area, very smart to tie everything together. (also cool how the pollution so bad they even got smoke underwater!)
Very fun & polished!! ✨The art is nice and the customisation options are a cool feature! This is a fun idea executed pretty well! The paw hitbox is a bit unintuitive at first, but maybe some kind of marker for the centre would be good? Also the pufferfish were a bit too annoying, sometimes spawning under the paw made me insta-press them so maybe some kind of warning indicator would be nice, but also in general if a pufferfish is in a bad spot it felt like a run killer which made getting a high score feel very reliant on pufferfish RNG, but the game is still very enjoyable and you did a great job!! 🐟🐈
Thank you! ✨
Layering behind the fish was discussed during development, which whilst probably a good idea, I made the quick/ easy decision against it to prevent the players from losing stuff behind the fish, but revisiting the idea, it is possible and will be a feature you can turn on in the settings in the post-jam update as it is useful to those that want it!
