Hey, did you get your issue resolved? I think I did the same thing, added the game but didn't actually submit to the jam accidentally. I was wondering where to go for help.

Ugh I feel kind of stupid. Uploaded 50 minutes ago and just worked on the page assuming it was submitted. :/ Oh well. Learned a lot from this jam though.

I'm second guessing myself now... There was a submit to jam button that I clicked and it said I needed to add a game to be submitted. Is it possible I only added the game and didn't submit? Ehhh

Also in the same boat, I don't see my entry yet. I'm hoping I submitted correctly!

Played, rated, and commented. Nice work!

Cool game! I really like the idea, this is probably as "on theme" as anyone could be! All of the games work well and I like that there is a leaderboard. The block weight scale game seemed to be the one game that took most of my time. I could probably be more considerate when I play, but I found myself just adjusting via trail and error... The laser/building scaling game was probably my favorite. The other two games are also fun, just very quick to complete in comparison. Enjoyed it, nice work.

Hey there! Your entry was actually one of the first games I played in the jam (I played it along with my brother, so I left a rating already but I never left a comment.) I didn't get to play the whole thing when we played together, so I gave it another go and played through to the end. I also left a comment. Enjoyed it! Nice work.

This was cool! Got to the end I think. I like the main character, I think it's design is really unique. I also really liked the art throughout, very simple but cohesive. The primary mechanic is fun, but there's definitely quite a few waiting moments. It was fun to master the different jumps and the section with the arrows coming down was tense! The menu was also neat and I liked the transition scenes. I'd love to to see this idea iterated on. Nice work!

Sorry it took me so long to get to yours, I've been sick this last week. I played it and left a rating and comment.

Thank you for playing our game! Happy to hear you enjoyed it.

Hey there! Fun experience.

I think I completed it, I wasn't really sure. The music changed and there was a balcony I could run around on. The game might benefit from an ending screen or at least some text somewhere to let the player know. I also thought the checkpoint elevator was also a bit confusing. It seemed to me that it only goes up once? Thankfully the game saves the checkpoint, so I ended up going to the main menu and loading in again to bring the elevator back down to the bottom whenever I fell down.

The outdoor scaling was pretty tense! That was probably my favorite part. I really enjoyed the outdoor fans and resizable beams. I also thought resizing openings in the walls was a clever idea. Nice job!

Hi! I don't think we have plans to make a Linux build at this time, but we'll definitely take a look at it and let you know if we manage to create one.

Done! Rated and left a comment as well. Nice job!

Cool game! Difficult! It was pretty tough controlling both characters, but it got easier over time. I liked the simple art style and retro feel. The music fits the retro aesthetic, but it gets a little bit repetitive after a couple of levels. I liked the mechanics used in the later levels, specifically the fruit and the switches. It adds a lot to the game! Enjoyed it. Nice work!

Played, rated and commented! Nice job.

Nice little game! I enjoyed the scaling mechanic and I thought the levels had a decent amount of variety. Really appreciated the checkpoint system as well. The enemy types were interesting, they were a bit difficult to jump on sometimes with the slow acceleration. The enemy design is rather basic, but the whole game is a bit abstract so it didn't take away from the experience too much. I liked the background! I also thought the ending of the second level was a neat idea, nice work!

This was cool! It was fun learning all of the different places/stamps and trying to sort the letters and packages as quickly as possible. I found the controls a little wonky which is alright, but sometimes the movement for the packages would act very strange and become frozen. It wasn't game-breaking because I could still get the package to the scale and conveyor, but it would "teleport" there. I like the idea of juggling two jobs also. I kind of wish I could see how many people were in line from the letter sorting area, I lost a couple of times for letting the queue get too long. Overall I thought it was a lot of fun and I really enjoyed my time with it. Great work!

Thought this was great! I think I made it to the end? I got attacked by a bird haha. The scale mechanic goes very well with the jam theme in my opinion and it's quite fun to use. I really like the consistent pixel art style and the bold black outlines around everything. It's very easy to parse which is great in a platformer. I definitely felt the Hollow Knight influence in the game mechanics and level design (I'm actually playing through it at the moment.) I think the level design is quite good! It was fun going back through previous sections with new abilities. Only nitpick I have is I thought the wall climbing was a little difficult to use. Sometimes it was difficult to grab the vines and I wish I could get more of a jump from the wall. The respawn time was also a bit long, but it didn't bother me too much. I played the first half with a keyboard before switching to a controller and both felt good to use. Awesome work!

This was fun! Nice to see another 2D/3D art game. The procedural generation is very cool and although the gameplay is simple, it was enjoyable scaling the tower. Best score I've got so far is 1040, I encountered some evil ducks and got destroyed haha. Only nitpicks I have really is that I found it a little tough to fit into 1 block openings and sometimes the interaction on the tops of ladders felt a little clingy. The art style is simple, but I like it! It's also cool to see a game created with rust. Nice work!

Thanks! Appreciate the feedback. I played/rated and commented your game! Awesome work, really liked it.

Very polished and fun! The gameplay is frantic and I really like the concept overall. It's very difficult on a trackpad, I'm going to have to play again with a mouse and see if I can do better. I thought the enemy variety was great! Enjoyed how they were introduced individually over time. I really liked the art as well, reminded me of old flash games. I think slowing down time while the folder is open was a good idea from a gameplay balancing perspective, but I'm curious how the game would feel if you could still click on enemies and ads while the folder is open. That said, I think this is great work, really well done!

Done! Played/rated your game and left a comment on your ratings page.

Interesting spin on a snake game! I like the concept of a shooting parts of the snake you collect. I played a few times. A couple times I started with a rock in front of me which would immediately end the run. Additionally, there is a pretty big issue where enemies can spawn where the player is and instantly end the game. I think if those two issues were solved, you'd have a good base gameplay loop! It would be cool if difficulty increased over time (maybe it does? I wasn't able to tell.) I think with some more work on core gameplay systems and some extra polish to graphics and sound, this would be really fun! I enjoyed the retro aesthetic and music. Nice work, keep it up!

Nice haha, made it to the end. Can't believe this game is sponsored by Neutrogena Hand Care Cream, lol! I thought this was fun to run around in. Very simple game, but enjoyable. I thought the cutscene art at the beginning was really cool! Nice job.

Hi! I think I played your entry last week, very chill! If you have some time to check out our game and give some feedback we'd really appreciate it! https://itch.io/jam/game-off-2023/rate/2398414

This was fun to play! It took a little bit to get used to the controls (I kept switching between left shift and right shift, right shift space wasd ended up being what I settled on.) I got super stuck at 4-1 and had no idea what I was doing wrong. The mechanic the level was asking me to pull off didn't click for me until I watched some gameplay from your youtube video that showed the long jump leading to a super high jump. I saw that and immediately went "Ohhh that's possible?!". With that knowledge I did pretty good until 5-2. I just couldn't seem to get enough jump height from the second platform, it took me a ton of tries... I kept thinking that the speed of the platform rising would transfer into my jump speed, but it seems like I actually jumped higher when it stopped moving which kind of confused me.

Not finished with this yet, but I'm currently at 6-1. The game's got its hooks in me, definitely a good thing! Hoping I can finish it sometime. The art style is simple, but nicely polished. Music and sound effects are great as well. I know nothing about music theory really, but I did happen to know some of the names of the levels and thought that was a really cool idea for level names. Very cool game overall, great work!

I've actually played/rated this one already, but I played it again and finished all the levels! I really enjoyed the sword mechanic, I like that it grows with the player. It makes for a satisfying escape from a dangerous moment.

Nice simple game! Made it to the end. I thought the art style was great and I enjoyed the levels. The clean design was nice, but I think it would be good to at least show that it is possible to reset the level with "R" (I just played another entry with that, which was the only reason I thought to try it). I enjoyed it! Good work!

A whole lot of content here! I really enjoyed the concept of this game, the characters were unique and interesting to use and the puzzles were fun to figure out. I think I gave it a decent effort, but I wasn't able to complete the game (at least not yet). I got far enough to where I could kill the tougher enemies (but I've only found 4 of them). I kind of wish fall damage wasn't a thing... especially since the player can already reset themselves. I found myself getting reset back to the beginning many times for that reason only, which makes it pretty difficult to explore the level.

That said, I thought it was fun! The different abilities were interesting and it was enjoyable getting to learn more about the map over time. Also really enjoyed standing on enemies heads haha. Nice work!

Really fun game! Here's ours if you get a chance: https://itch.io/jam/game-off-2023/rate/2398414

This game was really funny and actually kind of addicting! Highest score I've managed so far is 180. It's a really cool concept, I like the idea of giving the player control over the obstacle timing. It was a little confusing for me at first, but once I started playing it clicked fairly quickly.

The art style is simple, but effective. Sound selection was good as well, I liked the music and goofy voice acting. The stuff happening in the background funny as well. Great work! Enjoyed it!

Update:

Hey again! It's getting really close to the end of the rating period, so I'm going to stop taking requests via this thread for the remainder of the jam. I'm going to finish up the requests I've not played yet. Thanks all!

Original:

Hey all! Please let me know if you'd like me to check out a game you've worked on! I'll keep a list and try to get to yours when I can. I plan to keep playing entries all the way up until the end of the rating period.

My Current To-Do List:

And please check out our silly baby action game if you have time!

Buff Baby Mayhem: Scale Smackdown

We certainly appreciate the ratings, but would love to hear your feedback. Thanks!

Reached the peak! Thought this was a nice game. I kind of wished the grab was something else other than left shift (it just felt a little uncomfortable.) The sanity meter was cool, the hallucinations made for some tense moments at times. It was fun! Nice work!

Wasn't really sure what I was doing at first, but then I read the description on your game page. It's a cool concept, I'd love to see this idea taken further!

Nice work on this one! Thought the environment and fish models were great and I really liked the spooky music. I kind of wish the hiding places were a little more obvious, sometimes I'd duck into what I thought was a hiding spot and instead I got eaten. That said, I thought it was a really fun stealth game! Great job!

Thanks! Yea those big fish are tough for sure.

Thank you!

Haha yea we giggled a lot at this idea and decided we had to go with it. Thanks for the comment!

Nice job getting the game packaged, makes it much more accessible for players. I've come across a few other python games that didn't do this.

This game is really really difficult! I can't seem to get past the first 1 to 3 obstacles. I'd love to see some gameplay of a good run, I feel like I might be missing something. I think the concept is good, just wish I had a little bit more control of the ball. The teleporters were a cool addition. Congrats on the entry, keep it up!

Super polished! The concept is awesome and I enjoyed playing to see if I could get first place. I really liked the mid-jam events that would occur, adds a little bit of spice to the experience. Really enjoyed this one and I'd love to see an expanded version. I could see this turning into a game-dev tycoon like game if some kind of meta-progression was added. Very cool! Nice work!

Fun shooter! I liked the upgrade mechanic and I thought the shooting mechanics and enemy explosions were satisfying! I thought the gun cycling was interesting, but I was really confused by it at first - I wasn't sure if it was broken or if it was intended to work that way. Also, the first door didn't open for me for some reason (windows build), so I thought I was stuck - but I was able to walk through it. I think this is a really good base game though, and I thought the boss was really funny. Nice work!
