Damn.
I can't believe no one else has commented on this.
Damn.
This hits really hard.
Damn.
I could write an essay on this thing.
Damn.
My personal interpretation was the feeling of someone becoming a better version of themselves, which comes with obvious benefits, but at the same time, the death of that "true" self with all its flaws which feels so cruel to that flawed self......it wasn't as likeable or reliable or nice or soft, but it wanted love too. Doesn't it deserve to be loved despite all its flaws, instead of just being more likeable and easier to enjoy?
Damn. Really excellent. I stared at the last page through the entire song.
Hello all, and thank you for playing my game. I worked on and off for two years, and though it may not seem like much, it was the result of me learning my own path through Unity. So many hours of tutorial videos and scouring through help request threads and mashing three completely seperate systems together to make a unique thing even with my limited coding knowledge. It has been quite the experience.
I am sorry that there is an excessive amount of bugs, glitches, and technical shortcomings. Though I spent several months QAing and also had super-awesome fantastic folks QA-ing for me as well, I guess the game was too spaghetti-code to really be reliable. All sorts of issues that I had not seen before coming outta nowhere, and my own shortsightedness with basic technical requirements.
My IRL stuff has unfortunately demanded all of my time for several months now, and this may continue for a while. I am not sure when I will be able to fix up this stuff.
I truly truly truly appreciate everyone wanting to play my game, and I am very very very sorry that I am not able to help some of you play the game.
My next game will likely be much more simple as a 2d point and click. I hope you'll enjoy it when it comes out.
Thank you.
Oh no, I'm so sorry to hear that. I have not encountered those bugs, so I do not know why that is happening. I will look into it. I will also try to implement a save/load system. I have worked with a save system before, but since I am smashing together various modules that were not made with the intent of working with each other, it takes some more time and checking up. When I have time, I will try to put it in. Thank you. I am very sorry that the game is stopping you from playing it. If you plan to play it again, I believe you can hold the spacebar to rapidly skip through dialogue. Again, I am sorry for the inconvenience and I really appreciate you playing this game.
This is a demo for what is now a full game over here: https://chillworksdev.itch.io/the-lovely-estate
Try that and see if it works :)
Wonderful! My twitter is here: https://twitter.com/ChillworksDev and you can DM me so I can send the file to you in private. Thanks!
I have won the kingdom and the carrot.
Having it run on the actual PSX emulator is pretty incredible. And hey you've been workin on this one for a while! Cool to see the improvements over time. Something that could be good is that in one player mode, you could give more health to the enemy so that it's more challenging. Cool!
I wish I could give this game more than five stars for the 90's rating; this game exactly reminds me of when people were experimenting back then. Good job on making this game. I am really, really, really curious of how you coded your movement, because the main character moves in a strange way. All in all, nice game, good memes.
First of all, wow, that improvement is great. The spirtework and camera angle change is excellent. Also, WOW WOW WOW This aesthetic, I really love this mix of 2D and 3D and lighting, it is excellent. The little animation on the speakers in particular looks really cool against the 3D environment. I think you could take out the footstep noises, they seem bugged in some way by constantly repeating longer than it should, but besides that, I really enjoyed playing this and I would love to see more stuff like it! Also, accidentally posted 3 times in here, deleted them lol.
Oh my god. I cannot believe that this isn't just an N64 cartridge found in someone's uncle's attic. The quality of it is superb. The music is exactly matching, the blurry textures are all perfect, even the grunting voice acting has the same exact voice quality from that era. This was a blast, and it feels so authentic. Excellent job.
There was a moment, possibly a bug, when a car just straight up drove through the bicycle lane and I gotta say, that is really the icing on the cake. That is just kick while you're down. This game is great, and I can feel the frustration so hard. The police car is just.......OOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. Excellent display of narrative through gameplay.
Thank you so much! Sorry to hear about that bug, that's odd. I'm glad you enjoy the concept. Yeah, our original concept was like what you described - a whole day of school full of challenges, constantly on the edge of losing it and starting over, and somehow persevering to the end of a day.....only to realize that this is what is expected of you every day. In the end, our time constraints meant we could only make what we did, but I like how it turned out as a sort of sample. If we build upon this in the future, we'll let you know!
