Thanks for trying it out! This is my first game so I focus on lesser content but in higher quality. One of my objective that I did not state in the description is that I want to let non-musician to experience how it feels to compose a piece of music. So the mechanic that you are curious is essentially how to compose a smooth music by doing better chord progressions. The 7s here represent the 7th notes in a major/minor scale which have the kind of hanging or unresolved feeling and expecting 1 (root note) to be played next to resolve it and the whole game is designed based on this concept. When you press a button, 2 of the 7 grids on the top panel will be updated and the next numbers to be updated are previewed/predicted on each of the button. Internally, each of the 14 next possible music chord (note combinations up to 4) is randomly generated but reproducible if you can remember all the button sequence pressed since the beginning. All in all, there is not any real rule to play it but generally a score of 100 and above indicates good chord progression.

to better guide the player, I discourage the player to spam '7' so that any 7 that showed up on the top panel will be temporary locked and indirectly disable some buttons completely or partially. These '7's will be automatically resolved to '1' by waiting 7 seconds pressing nothing which subsequently re-enabling all the buttons. The internal mechanism and calculation are a bit complex and messy but they are not important to enjoy this game. Just do not blindly smash the buttons and you are good to go.

Even though I found it somewhat unintelligible, it was more compelling and more satisfying than many. I still have so many questions, but I'm excited to play it again with the information you shared.
