How does your game utilize the limitation and theme?
Collectable Sheet Music and a Musical Dream Journey that both starts and ends within the little boy's home. (Also you have to travel back and forth between Crystals and Music Stands)

What was your team size?

Solo

You worked alone

If your game includes any of the optional challenges, select them below:

Theme Party

Use a theme and/or limitation from one of the past 8 Bits to Infinity jams in addition to the main theme

In a Song

The game is as long as a single backing music track

If you did any of the optional challenges, explain how they were used:
I just realized that this game applies to the easy jam! It's more of a musical story journey so there's technically no win or loose state.

While the game takes place in a looping track, the idea is that it's the song the little boy is playing on the piano from the start to the end. So in theory, the game would be within one piece of music.

amazing intro to the game! i love the whole style of it, really fresh and innovative mechanics.

I'm not having the best ear for this, i going to keep trying a lot! love it!

Could you check my entry? I'll really appreciate it, Thanks!

Absolutely loved this... really lovely, well crafted, thought-provoking, pretty to look at... well done.
Controls are great
The intro and outro animations are sublime!
Level design is really good
One of the few games in the jam that I was hell-bent on completing!

- A couple of minor glitches with the music playback
- As lovely as the background music is, I kind of would like to hear another track or more of the same, just so it didn't loop as much
- After the outro, there's just a black screen? Was a little jarring

Really fun and original game idea. Sadly I got stuck pretty fast but thats just my fault. I'm not the best with playing from hearing. :)

There are glitches with the music in the browser version but I know you are aware of them.

Also I would apreciate if I could turn off the background music. Since both the puzzles and the bg music are piano it makes it very hard. If I could change the volume that would help too but it's also definately needed to have an option to turn it off.

Great graphics and music too! Really liked this game I just wish I was better at it.

Wow such a great game. One of the few games of this jam where I wish it would just go on forever. Looking forward to the "Through Fire and Flames" DLC!

THIS GAME IS SO AMAZING!!! I gave you 5/5 in every field.I'm a little biased because I play the Piano, But I think you should DEFENENTLY make another game, where you keep the movement and the music mechanic and add more story and character to it. If you want, you can make a steam release out of this main idea. I AM BEGGING YOU! Please make this into a bigger game. I would 100% buy it no matter what. I'd buy it on launch day. (Tough you still need good marketing for this, I think that the main idea combined with a story could be a really good game.) I imagine this game like  Once upon a coma/Neversong. There are some games like this, but there isn't much. So I think that you could set yourself apart relatively easily. One unique selling point (USP) to the game could be that you have the ability to play anytime, you want (not just when in a specific room or something like that similar to the other game I mentioned)

Important: please add the ability to keep the buttonse pressed. It would add so much more depth if I could use chords and such.

What I would change: Please add arrow controls because, that way I can use my right hand controlling and my left hand playing the piano. Wasd keys are only good if you're using the numpad for playing, but 1: I don't have a numpad and 2: playing on the numpad isn't piano-like anymore, because there are keys above each other.

BTW if you could check out my game that would be cool, even though your's is superior, it is my first complete game. :)

Woah, first of that intro was stunning. This game is so beautiful and I loved how you incorporated the music aspect into the game(especially since I love music and I'm a musician myself). Great soundtrack, good character control feel, awesome art and a lovely story through told throughout the game. Really an amazing game.

Wow! Clean platformer movement aside what a unique mechanic! I tried at first and didn't get past the 3rd gate. I simply had to come back to the game and try again though because it was such a cool idea! Got a lot farther on my second attempt :).
If I had one suggestion it would be to add a beginner mode where the sounds are associated with the colors. Then people like me can fully experience the game and learn some some basic chords along way. Note: I don't know if chords was the right word :X

This is really well done, congrats! The art style fits really well, as does the music and it succeeds in creating an emotional connection. I also liked the message and the movement, it's pretty snappy and well made. I had no trouble hearing the series of notes to play to open the doors, but sometimes the background music distracted me along the way and made me forget, so maybe it would be cool to fade out the volume a bit on those stretches, but I really enjoyed playing this nonetheless. Very nice!

This game is  a smooth, responsive platformer of extremely high quality. I don't have a musical ear so I really couldn't access it at all... but I brought it my husband to beat it for me and we loved it! We appreciated the way the quotes/thoughts popped up after each puzzle as a little thought-provoking reward and how the background added so much depth. I would have appreciated an Easy mode for people like me with the music visualized in some way that I could have memorized. I know that would take the puzzle out of it to a certain extent but, without that, it is unplayable for a lot of people. Regardless, it is a thing of beauty and you should be very proud.

Oh my. This game is a masterpiece! This is the first game that emotionally connected to me. I really dont know what this feeling is, but the game really connected my mind with music and my memories. I really cant express my feelings with words. I just could not resist it but to finish the game and find all 12 scores. Some of the phrases were hard to remember despite of me having a music background, but thats the challenge, isnt it? I really enjoyed fiddling with the 5 keys and finding the right combination.

Here are my suggestions:
0. Continue development! I LOVE IT!

1. Add more levels/ worlds, and add mechanics such as chords

2. Maybe try using the pentatonic scale instead?  I think that would provide more harmony (Do Re Me So La)

This is the best game i have ever played in this jam! Top ratings for this (Yes, I gave all 5s)! Music is really the only language everyone speaks!

Thank you so much! I really appreciate it and I'm super glad I ended up finishing this game now. I would really love to make this into a full game, but it's hard to think of ways to give reason for this game to be a platformer. Right now you travel to a crystal, listen to it, and go right back, and there's nothing to stop, or make it more difficult other than travelling. If you have any suggestions on how to actually do this I would be glad to hear them!

Also I really want to add rhythms and chords, but I would most definitely have to come up with an interface that makes it more clear.  Also I wanted to do the C Major scale with every note, but just limited it from C to G to make it easier to get through. The full game would probably add extra notes, change keys, or add harmonies over the course of many levels.

I really like the idea of making this into a full game and spending a couple months making it into a cheap experience for others to play. I'm hoping that I can come up with some other features, but I'm unsure as of now. I might also throw in enemies to make it a rhythm hack n slash, but I'm unsure as of now. Overall, I really appreciate your feedback, and I'm glad you though so highly of this game! It took some work.
