This game has the most unique art style I've ever seen! My favourite part about the gameplay was how lenient the timing was. It really allowed me to relax and go with the flow instead of frustrating about why that arrow I hit was counted as "too early" while I was convinced I tapped alongside the beat. Awesome game!
Thanks so much for the kind words!
The art was so cool, we ended up changing a lot of the tone of the game, and I think it worked out for the better. We wanted to get that "learning how to ride" feel to it while still being fun enough to engage with, so I'm glad we were able to hit that mark for you!
I'm glad you enjoyed it!
We wanted something challenging but still friendly and story-centric, and I think we did the best job we could. I'm hoping we can add to it after the Jam period!
A rhythm game lives or dies by its music and I gotta say the music in this game is fantastic! pro level soundtrack! hats of to Doody for the 2000's style music. Wish it had a music test or a quick replay function so I could jump right back to gameplay/listen to the music.
when scrolling through the dialogue sometimes it skips a line so it'd be nice if either had an option to scroll slower or add an extra line to the displayed dialogue.
All I wanna do is press the UP arrow so I can see Sumireko do a SICK flip over and over again. (very cute art direction)
Thanks so much for the kind words! That was the exact musical feel we were going for, so I'm glad we hit the mark well there!
The scrolling is something we tried to fix but still don't have a solution for at the moment, but for a future update, we will definitely make note of that.
I'm glad you enjoyed the art direction as well, we really tried to go for something different there, for sure!
I read the comments saying it was a rhythm game, but, once I started it, the narration really captured me: I completely forgot about that and got ready for some platforming action, then I realised what was going on!
All this to say that your story, despite being so short, was so good, it made me forget about everything else! And the character designs are really unique, I loved your interpretation of them.
Oh goodness, thank you so much for such effusive praise!
Speaking personally for a moment, I had a great time writing the narrative for the game, and really enjoyed bringing the characters to life that way.
The narrative was actually inspired in part by Mollyyncy's art; when she gave me the first drafts of each character, I switched a lot of stuff around and it worked out really well, I think!
Her work, as well as the work and input of the others on the crew, were very instrumental in getting this done.
I am happy you found it to be a pleasant experience.
I'll just say that I immediately went to follow Mollyyncy on Twitter after playing the game. :)
Keep up the good work, all of you!
When i choose spanish it's just portuguese, so i played in english. Sometimes the character who is talking won't have his name written, if a text is too large for the text box it will scroll down, i was reading but it was too fast and i missed a little bit of text, even worse, a lot of time i just tap enter to speed the typing but it just scrolls down and misses the upper text.
Sometimes the characters would talk about things that they seem to understand but don't tell what they think, so i would have to assume what they are talking about.
Hello!
The Portuguese/Spanish thing is a known bug in the 1.1 version, which I was about to write in the game notes. The original Jam version does have the functioning Spanish translation if you would like to see that. We're also aware of the textbox issues and are working on updating those when we can. I'm sorry if it impacted your enjoyment of the game at all.
....Wow this is really not a game to be playing at - (looks at clock) - 12:40 AM. (Yawns). It's a good thing everything is bite-sized, the song, the dialogue, heck I'd say even the artwork.
Thank you for playing! I'm glad our game was entertaining and enjoyable enough to keep you awake. Lol
I can't believe I got tricked into playing a rhythm game lol.
Nice tracks btw
Eheheh, we're always up to some tricks.
Glad you enjoyed it despite the slight deception!
good
thank
This is a rhythm game with a story.
The character design is really unique and artistic.
Overall a nice little game to try if you like this kind of genre.
Thank you for taking the time to comment! We had a great time bringing this idea to life. I'm glad you seemed to have enjoyed what we had to offer.
Scrunko Sumireko.
I liked how there were there different themes based on the characters, and all of them were really good. Art is cute and pressing to the rhythm was fun!
Sumi-gremmo.
Thanks for enjoying the game! We really wanted to try out some strange and new ideas visually and aesthetically, so I appreciate that you had great fun with the game.
I really enjoyed the unique artstyle in this one, and props for having it in multiple languages too. Some of the sprite alignment is off where the characters are hidden by the text prompt, and that there are floating trees, but aside from that the visuals are stunning.
On behalf of everyone on the team, thanks so much for the praise! When we realized we could do multi-language support, we wanted to make sure to implement it so we could open the game up to others who might not get the chance to see a Touhou game in their main language that often.
We're aware of a few bugs and hope to fix those soon! I'm glad you enjoyed the art as well.
