The crisp illustrations give this storybook typing game a nice feel. As an educational typing game with a creepy twist, it plays well with plenty of curveballs in the form of red and black words. Some more visual feedback on correct player lettering could help, but the challenge is welcomed. Definitely not a genre I see everyday in the jam!
Thanks for submitting Mortal Peril Teaches Typing to the jam!
Very unique game! I can confirm I now type at a whopping 90 wpm! Took me a while to catch on to what I was supposed to do when I had to type backwards but the pictures on the bottom helped me out!
I loved the Dr. Seuss-like drawing and the creepiness factor in the game! The farthest I got to was chapter 5 where James tried to run away until he ran right into the Gurmy Lurm. I couldn't get past the chapter because there were no checkpoints. If you want to improve this game, I suggest that you increase the timer on parts where you have to type out long sentences with multiple red words on them. It's easy to make mistakes when you are short on time.
Thanks so much! Yes, I will definitely make some balance changes after the jam is over. I think chapter 5 is about as far as it's reasonable to get with the current difficulty, so congrats and thanks for playing!
This game is really interesting. Love the artwork. Sadly, I'm wasn't smart enough to complete this game. Adn my typing scuks.
Love the Seuss-esque artwork! I got stuck in Chapter 2, not sure what I was doing wrong.
Thank you for your kind words! Sorry, there were some challenges that weren't working in there, thanks for catching it. The updated version has the broken part removed.
Congrats for the drawings!
