  • Good music. Theme is present. Art is great. Controls are good. Love that it has a tutorial as well as an explanation of what's going on—something that has been sorely missing in a lot of these entries. Cool progression system. My only complaint is that progression ends really quickly, but of course this is only a game jam, and I can't be expecting a 5 hour game haha! Great work!

Mac users probably need to use Safari due to a known bug in chromium.
Game Controls
You'll be able to control your vessel and save the world using the following keys:

A & D: These will control your movement from port to starboard
W & S: These will control your speed. W is throttle up, S is throttle down
E: This allows you to deposit your trash for cash at the base
Q: This allows you to upgrade your vessels at the base
R: This allows you to tether your Hitch boat to another
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8: These will control which vessel you are currently piloting. Switching between will change the ship
←, ↑, →, ↓: These will allow you to control your secondary vessel when tethered to the Hitch ship
Have fun!

Extra Notes
Thanks so much for hosting this Game Jam. My friends and I had a tremendous amount of fun and learned we could, in fact, make games. <3

Really like it, chill and calm game. I did not manage to be able to collect big garbage, I got the boat with canon and he shot some shots and made some garbage small but not all, I upgraded the capacity of the scout to maybe think that they could then collect but not. The distance is very long so I ended up all the time to get help from the base.

Lovely game. The music especially resonated with me (And the character we see is designed so well!).

I felt like I didn't totally enjoy the multi-ship gameplay as much (maybe something about the meditative feel the single ship play had being lost a little as I tried to juggle multiple tasks), but I still had a good time!

I feel like a more polished/produced version of this would be so much fun. I'm getting the vibes of a cool, meditative, curiosity-driven experience (in a similar vein to Endless Ocean, which I loved as a kid).

Great stuff!

Thank you so much! I think you're right- things get a little hectic when there's a larger fleet at your disposal and we're going to look into some ways to polish that. I haven't heard of Endless Ocean but now I'm certainly going to check it out now! I love those ideas for our game. Thanks again!

I love the attention to detail. The radar with the different size pings to let the player know what they can and cant pick up based on their ship size *chefs kiss*. This was a really cool game, I did feel like I had to hover around base a lot at the start as I kept running out of fuel, but with the upgrades you can pretty easily move out more. The eco friendly messaging, the chill vibes, the polish. Great job to everyone involved!

Thank you!! We're real proud of it so far and definitely plan to continue because we have so many ideas and have had a blast. Super happy to hear you had a good time and were able to appreciate the detail we tried to focus on. Also a big thank you for checking out the game after I tried yours- I didn't expect the reciprocity :) High praise, thank you buddy!

Of course, anyone willing to go out of their way and leave a well thought out review with good feedback deserves at LEAST the same :)

Wow that's such a calm, beautiful and awesome game!

I like the detail you added trash circles/island.
I like the music and voice samples since their give you easy feedback with little effort! It would be nice to have diffrent sounds for every boat and a smoother switch between the throttle stages (soundwise).

Developer

Thank you so much for the kind and thoughtful comments! I've told our Sound Guru - AVNDR, and he already has some ideas brewing. we truly appreciate the feedback. :)

I love the casual nature of this game, which was enhanced by the background music! As well, the art works very well with what you're trying to achieve. A small balancing detail to take into account if you plan to expand on this idea further is that if you cast a net between the Hitch and another boat, you could just leave any of the boats close to the base and make the other one move in circles, allowing you to deposit the trash all the time, letting you earn money very easily. Besides this, great job! Very chill game.

Developer

Thank you for the kind words and thoughtful comments! Our Audio Engineer/Musician/QA Person: AVNDR also caught this during design and building. We decided for the Jam that it was a fun thing for someone to figure out, as you have! You're absolutely right, though; it would need to be balanced in a full release. Perhaps snapping the line at a certain distance could solve this exploit? In the meantime, enjoy cleaning those Seas, and thanks again for taking the time to play our submission!

Yeah, snapping the line sounds like a good idea. Maybe give the player visual feedback for when it's about to snap, so that it doesn't feel unfair. Maybe one of the upgrades could be to make the line longer?

Developer

That's a great thought as well! Riffing off your idea, we could have some visual animation of a rope getting taught and vibrating right before snapping with sound cues to warn the player. A longer rope would also be a great upgrade if the rope snapped. We also thought it'd be cool if you could pull things towards you with it, such as the large derelict ships.

This game is incredible! The music is chill! The art is beautiful! I had issues getting this game to load at first. Chrome can't seem to load it. I would select new game and then the loading bar just freaks out and goes nowhere. The game worked beautifully for me on Edge though. Now, I just need more time to play. Well done!

Developer( 1)

Thank you, that is very kind of you. Unfortunately, it doesn't open in Chrome because of a known issue with Chrome and Godot. I'm glad you were able to get it working via Edge, and I'm so glad you enjoyed it!
