Description
Kai’s Theme
Kai’s Theme portrays the sadness she feels – the piano motif reflects her longing and tentative hope at the thought of escape. Kai may be trapped, but she has not given up!

Forest of Mecaz
After the escape, Kai finds herself in the forest – alone and free for the first time. The piece reflects her excitement and sense of adventure.

The Elders
Deep and full, this piece articulates the power of the elders – and how they have a hand in controlling everything in the land. This piece does not contain any of the motifs of the other pieces, illustrating how the elders are bigger than Kai’s understanding of her world.

Caves of Azad
The sense of danger resides throughout the piece, Kai is underground and trapped in a series of tunnels. Will she escape or meet her destiny in the deepest of these tunnels?

Musical Themes
Kai’s journey is illustrated by her recurring motif, the first time we hear this is in Kai’s Theme and is played by piano in D Dorian Mode. The motif is sad and melancholic, illustrating her thoughts when we first meet her.

This motif begins the forest piece this time in A Dorian, with a tentative answering flute in F Dorian. This ambiguous harmonic centre echoes Kai’s uncertainty in starting out alone for the first time. The piece settles into C Dorian with the start of the ostinato. voiced by two flutes this illustrates Kai’s growing confidence in her journey.

The ostinato figure begins the caves piece, this time in C# Minor. The figure is unsure of itself before being snatched away by the strings to continue the piece. There are echoes of Kai’s theme in the piano when the woodwinds take over the ostinato, but this is short lived. Kai is in danger and is far from the comfortable forest, but the memories of this place remain.

Yes! The epic choir! The elders are badass! What library did you use for the consonants?

Ha! What an awesome entrance with that choir! What library is this? Very expressive themes, all of them. I love the Forest of Mecaz. Very magical with the chimes and harpeggios. More menacing vibe in the Cave theme, especially the low strings. Great effect. All tracks are really distinct and well finished. Thanks for sharing!

Cool opening with the men's choir. It indeed sounds quite powerful. I also really love Caves of Azad and Forest of Mecaz. Love the interplay between flutes and strings. I think something about their pacing just strikes a chord with me. Very nice work!

Lovely OST. Really loved The Elders (my favorite overall), it really matched the description you wrote. Could imagine it playing for such scenes in a game! Forest of Mecaz was so magical, love the floaty instrumentation. Caves of Azad was really nice, though I feel like the Dorian feel didn't stand out enough due to sparing use of the natural 6th. Still really fit the description. Love this and could envision the scenes very easily.

I think you hit the exact mark you were going for. Just a side note, the tracks sounded fairly quiet to me

Cheers, I felt the mixes needed more work so good feedback!

Your themes are really well made , they're short bit express really nicely what they mean. I'd fuller tracks, more orchestral maybe, but otherwise, it's great !

Thanks for taking the time to listen - I'd like to continue developing these pieces and finish the story
